the "Score" victory type listed at the HoF

http://hof.civfanatics.net/civ4/index.php

is not a standard Civ4 victory condition

is this the highest score among the various victories achieved?
Yes, exactly right!

it is also not clear to me why some of the entries in the table have a green and gold background
That is the word "new" written in yellow (or gold). Games with that background were part of the last update (or the selected update if you choose a different update from the drop down containing the dates).

i started a game in 007. everything went fine.
i went back to main menue start new game with same settings exept i changend to normal climate.
then i get the message: not valid for HOF, look in settings, but there is no error message in settings. (save of this game attached)
now it gets interesting: if i go to main menu an create a new game i get the same error.
then i restart civ and create the same game: this time i get no error.

its a little bug that doesnt hurt, but i found it interesting

The save appears to be okay from what I can see at work. Have you tried loading that save since you restarted? What version of the HOF did you upgrade from? It may have just have been something that got cleanup when you restarted. If it doesn't reoccur it is probably nothing to worry about.

It seems like the fix for the whipping bug is not working properly on game speeds other then normal. I get 30 hammers per pop instead of 45 when whipping at epic speed (haven't checked quick and marathon).

This was first discovered by Conquistador 63, here is the thread in the GOTM forum:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=184688

EDIT: different people seem to get different results when whipping (detailes in the thread above).

Thanks for the link Obormot. I'm just looking into this after Denniz pointer that thread out to me. Are you sure about the 30 though? That seems to be different from what Conquistador was seeing, which was just not getting an overflow. His example he claims he got 33 when expecting 45 due to not getting the 12 overflow.

OK, I made another test. The number of citizens that need to be killed is calculated correctly, but the number of hammers gained is not scaled with the game speed, and if that number is not enough to complete the build, remaining hammers are justed added to get a full box. In the first case you get less overflow then expected (like I experienced in my test game), and in the latter case you get no overflow (like Conquistador and Lexad saw in their games). For example if you have 25/45 hammers invested before using the whip you'll loose one citizen and get 55/45 hammers (should be 70/45) after the whip and 10 hammers overflow (should be 25). If you have 10/45 hammers you still loose only one citizen, and get 45/45 hammers (should be 55/45) and no overflow (should be 10 hammers).

That's pretty screwed up...

I'm not very good at installing mods and such, so I don't know if my previous attempts at mods messed up my chances for this mod.

I get the message that my game doesn't count, and I go to victory settings and it says that the assest don't match the correct installation of the mod or something to that effect, let me know if I need to be as specific as possible.

What can I do? I tried to uninstall Warlords, then install but that didn't help.

thanks,

Have you modified anything in the Assets folder of your Vanilla Civ4 installation? Warlords shares some of those files as well. Also, make sure there are not any extra files in those folders. Your best bet may be to uninstall both, delete the Civ4 folder and reinstall.

i was afraid of that, now I just need to find that darn vanilla cd.:crazyeye:

thanks for the quick response.

there is a bug I have not encountered in the previous versions:

Using Map Finder at some point it stops, because it cannot regenerate. If I then exit to main menu and start a game with the same settings and start Map Finder again, it gives all the usual messages (save path, rule path, map finder active etc.) but does not regenerate the map (even though it is possible). If I save the start and load it or regenerate a couple of times before starting map finder, it does not work either. Only exiting to desktop and either loading the saved start or starting a new game solves this issue.
Logging does not give any popups

Unfortunately, that is not a new issue. It is a side-effect of the mechanism used to do the swap of control between the Civ4 code and the Map Finder logic. I can only initialize it once. Exiting to the desktop seems to be the only way to restart once the loop is ended by the inability to continue regenerate.

(Of course, now that you've got me thinking about it, I just thought something else to try. Not that I can hold out a lot of hope. Everytime I try to fix it, I end up breaking the loop logic instead. ;) ) Edit: I don't know why I did think of that fix before. It seems to work. You can expect to see it in the next release.

:goodjob: I am looking forward to it :D

Two more (minor) things:

HOF - Mod:
Regenerating using MapFinder or the Regenerate Map Button from the Options Menu automatically centers the Map on the Starting Position
Regenerating using the Hotkey centers the Map somewhere in unexplored territory (I suspect it just stays at the previous coordinates...)

MapFinder:
Select a save and click Delete. Now decline to actually delete the entry - after this the Rename, Move and Delete Buttons do no longer work. Only Restarting the Utility helps.

I have noticed that problem with unmodified Civ4. About half the time it won't recenter the map after regeneration. With map finder, I had to change the camera speed to get it to center properly for the screen shot. For the Hotkey regenerate, I tried to set the camera speed to force a fast center before setting it back to normal. Unfortunately, I didn't work out that well as it returns to normal too quickly. I have been tempted to put it back to the way it was.

Which version are you using? I thought I had fixed that in the VB.Net versions. Try it in v1.2 which the current release.
(Note: I have never fixed any of the bugs in the original as I wasn't planning on supporting it in VB6.)

Well I actually missed the 1.2 Release  and installed it now - this error is still there though...

I am getting the error that Bone Crusher reported. I installed the .net framework and then reinstalled the map finder, but when I launch map finder, I just get an error saying a problem has occurred and asking me if I want to send the details to Microsoft. Has any resolution been found for this problem. Thank you for your assistance.

Nope. Try using the VB6 version. You need to lastest data files to go with it.

I uninstalled the latest version of the map builder, installed the VB version, and overlayed the data files. When I launch MF_Rules_Builder, I just get an error "The specified module cannot be found".
One of the reason I switched to VB .NET was that the VB6 app has a dependency on having MS Office or at least Excel. I am not sure what to tell you. You can use the Mod part of map finder without the utility as long as the HOF ini file points to the files and directories of the install. Changing the rule file in notepad is possible. The data files contain all the codes needed.

I'm not sure if it has been noted before...but I load up C-IV vanilla, then load the newest HOF mod so I can play the GOTM. When it finishes, it loads the game up in full screen, even though I had vanilla C-IV set for window version. I switch the HOF mod to window version also, exit and restart, load the mod, and it works fine...I'm in window mode.

But then I save my game, exit, and play again a couple days later, and it loads up in full screen mode again! I went through the .ini file and couldn't find anything relating to the graphics, so I assume it uses a different file for the graphics settings. Is there any way to make it remember I want it in window mode?
