HOF Questions and Answers Thread

No, that's something completely different. Your version of BTS is 3.19, it's even "newer" than that. What you need is the original Version of Civ BTS 3.19, so the version like it was sold on Discs.

There must be an option to change your version of CIV to the original disc version, somewhere on Steam probably.

It is in one of the buffy help threads - you have to download the 'beta' version from Steam to re-patch to the disc version because Steam added some 'update' of their own.

I found that after I'd given up on Steam and bought a second set of discs so haven't personally tried it but it is definitely in one of the Buffy threads either in the HoF section or the GOTM section.

Just 1 post above yours ;)

Hth.

seems you mean this topic: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=527625

OK: I can load mod now, but cant load BOTM save - becase of the the game crash. There was a little window with massage, but it closed too fast.

I remember having had the same problem once. I unfortunately don't remember how I fixed it.

Could it be that something that the mod requires is missing, like i. e. "Microsoft Net Frameworks" or similar?

Have you tried opening a botm save from the desktop? It should autoload the necessary mod, and if not, should give an error message as to why.

Victory! It looks so smple when it works that i feel me like a donky :wallbash:

shortly: there were a lot of wrong ways and i visited almost all of them :wallbash:

Thanx for your attantion people!

There's lots of internet services that can check for you if a site really is down, for example http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/

Last night civfanatics.net was down according to that one. Now it isn't anymore, but the hof site seems to have problems accessing the database. No tables loading.. :(

HoF still down so..............What are the legal map settings for the "Highland" map in regards to a) flat, b) cylindrical, c) toroidal. Which can I use?

I'm surprised more people aren't aware of this amazing the internet website:
archive.org

They have what's called the "Internet Archive Wayback Machine"
It's been around for a long time. You can enter any website (like hof.civfanatics.net) and see how it looked back in time. Several snapshots are usually available for any site for years and years.

So, to answer your question, I went there and saw a)yes b)yes c)no

Great site :) . Thx for the tip :) .

Will try here as well, as it seems more visited than the Customization section.

Do you know how to get BUFFY working in Linux? I'm running the game with PlayOnLinux, a front-end for Wine (a Windows emulator, very popular). The game itself runs flawlessly, and BUFFY loads automatically. Have replaced the BULL *.dll with the BUFFY one, as I normally play with BUG/BULL. However, there must be something wrong, because when Seraiel tried to load a savegame from me, he gets an error (that is too quick to read).

I think everything should be set up correctly, but if you guys have experience with getting this to work in linux (if that is relevant) then help would be appreciated.

A little bit more info about it here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=13682096&postcount=89

I don't get any error messages on my end btw, so it's hard to know what is wrong. But when I started a game without locked modified assets ticked, I got a red warning, so i assume BUFFY sort of works.

Pangaea has the same problem as Gosha190 had only last week. Plz help him. Game shuts down with giving an error msg that is only there for miliseconds, so no possibility to read it.
