HOTFIX at 12/22!

Nice one Firaxis.

However. Why don't they release alot more small hotfix patchs? In this manner we could iron out the bugs sooner rather than later and then consentrate on the larger "gameplay balance" patchs.

Anyway as I said good work. Keep it coming.

Probably because everyone whines when a patch makes things worse rather than better. If you do a lot of patches you have to use players for even minimal testing, and because it would play merry hell with mods which are kind of reliant on a somewhat stable base game to make sense.

That said, if I were managing this, I would find allow people to sign up for beta patches. That way, you can have both: Stable patches for modders and people who play it safe, and beta patches for risk-takers who want everything yesterday rather than tomorrow.

Gotta agree. Why wait for some huge patch bundle? Give us a hotfix every week!

No mention of the City State road quest fixed? Hopefully its an undocumented change fix that they slip in, but if I get that quest early with a city state I'm basically stuck just sinking gold into it for the rest of the game (or taking over or ignoring it depending on my needs).

Hope this bug is fixed soon if not in this hotfix.

no you're not, just build the road then tear it back down after you complete the quest. much more annoying for me is not having roads through allied CS's connect your trade network.

Why? Where the OP or something?

they didn't receive the -33% penalty for city attack PLUS they still got their +30% vs cities. you could basically just out a ton of mandekalu and dominate the battlefield without worrying about siege/iron based units just like old times (unless siam was near of course). basically they're now neutral vs cities, still very good but not unbelievably OP'd anymore.

I'd like to see them fix the bug where AI are now 'Colonizing' 1 tile islands, also fix the bug that would ignore the Min_City_Distance Value & build a city on a 1 tile island only 1 tile of water away from another built city...

Does a 1 tile island provide no value in Civ V? In Civ IV it could enhance your trade route income.

On the city one tile away from another. Unless they changed the rules for Civ V this should be a legal city as it was in Civ IV. In Civ IV minimum distance between cities is only checked when placing a city on the same land mass. So it is legal for player and AI to have have cities one tile away on an island or separate continent.

This does answer a question about if they are still going to support the game after Shafer. Thanks Greg!

Just to play devil's advocate, this doesn't really answer that question at all. This doesn't fall into the post-Shafer era.

Every patch/hotfix they release has to go through testing and packaging. There comes a point where it's less efficient to keep releasing minor hotfixes rather than bundling them into a larger patch.

Just got the hotfix from Steam. 8.2MB, new version # is 1.0.1.141.

Alright then... right back to the drawing tables with a stable v1141.
Hot, warm, cold; it all slows down my own MOD(s) updates & verifications -- i now seriously think i might have to wait a few weeks more just in case some new worthy fixes collapse the planned design & principles of Z-EraCorner or even, LeoPaRd (v1).

EDIT; Just got it and looks like some GlobalAIDefines values fine-tuning may come *VERY* handy.

Rounding errors. Siam got +50% on 1 food, rounding it to 2. Essentially their bonus was +100%.

I have a mental block on this one. Post-hotfix, what does Siam get from a friendly maritime?

Whatever the answer, it would seem as if it's feast or famine for their SA.

Great job :goodjob: Firaxis ! It didnt crash while playing ! ..but it crashed during loading. :(

Also i found this very strange bug where my destroyer couldnt reveal the fog of war, i just couldnt see into one water hex and two land hexes. I went into this one water hex that didnt reveal itself and then i just lost my destroyer to fog of war ! Then when i moved my destroyer away from that hex i could once again see my destroyer. Thats magic !

Strange.. Why is mine 396.2 MB ?? It's just finishing now. More than double what the major patch was! Anyone else get this size?

No, but the impeccable steam decided to completely delete my Civ5 exe so I'm having to reinstall

Steam does all manner of things on updating, and a lot of them are not what you'd expect.
