How about a Deity SG for a newbie or 2?

230ad : Make peace with Japan for 2 gpt. Do some MM to avoid riots in all our border cities., switch to knights
in core cities to go get Brundisium.
250ad : zzzz
ibt : Germans building JSBach
zulus complete Sistine and Leo, cascade to JSB and Cops, japs completes Cops
260ad : zzzz
270ad : amassing knights by brundusium
ibt ; chinese ask for ROP + alliance vs japs, no money so no !
280ad : tons of Chinese riders go towards rome.
290ad : zzzz
300ad : roman knight kills our spearman defender in Adana, Canton builds JSB. tons of Chinese riders go towards rome.
Lose a Knight to their knight AAARRRGGHHH, then kill one of their Pike with another knight, get Brundisium and an elite knight, lose one as well.
Lose an MDI near Byzantium but another one wins and makes a knight retreat.
change Idrine towards prod (as it is on 12 pop)
310ad : Move troops around for assault on Lugdunum
320ad : What are all those Chinese riders doing, it's an exodus...
330ad : Just getting all my units in an SoD to go after Lugdunum.

To my follower please wait one or 2 more turn to get a nice SoD and go get Lugdunum we will then have monpoly of incense and should sue for peace. This war is not too deadly for us but we are way behind in techs again, we need MPs and Banks to survive.

The dream would be a Leader to rush the FP in Sinop ! If not finish the Temple there and start hand building it please.

Can't load because the server is down, PM your email adress so I can send the save.

Preturn -

1. Brundisium is building a pikeman due in 27 turns and has no barracks. Change to Library and move labor to irrigated plains. Cuts growth rate in half
2. I upgrade 2 warriors to MI for 120gp. They may be regular but can be used to take on wounded pikes and spears.
3. Istanbul is done growing for now. Gain 1 gpt and 1 spt by moving worker to mined plains.

I wanted to check diplomacy but clicked just off of the box moving me to turn 1...

340AD (01) - Entertainers in Adana, Konya, Ankara, Aydin, Bolu, and Edrine are now tax collectors we make 8 more gpt. MI beats longbow in the mtns losing no hp. Kafa is desperately dry. I remove a mine and irrigate a tile to continue the water flow.

Zulu wants banking for 64gpt. I get it from China @4th for 58gpt and 1 gold. Trade it to Germany for Invention.

This is weird. Japan will trade Gunpowder for either
a. Banking, WM, 187 gold and 10gpt or....
b. Banking, WM, 188 gold and 1gpt.
I opt for b
There is saltpeter at Byzantium. :) It will fall to us soon. Min science now on Chem

IT: MI gets beat by knight outside Byz. but knight is nice and wounded.

350AD (02) - Istanbul builds Knight and starts bank. Iznik completes pike, starts on knight. Aydin builds knight and starts another. Mugla builds barracks. Bingol completes Temple. Crappy RNG. A healthy vet knight loses to a 2 hp knight.

IT: Lose 1 pike but hold against 3 knights and 1 longbow.

CF1-360ad.jpg

360AD (03) - shuffle some troops. getting ready for lugdunum. Trade incense and 3gpt for furs from zulu. WW must be hitting. Hire a bunch of entertainers and fire some tax collectors.

IT: Salzburk falls to china

370AD (04) - ose 1 knight and 1 MI but gain an elite knight and take Lugdunum. 1 more incense in our posession

IT: Lose a knight after he survives first attack. Romes forces are worried about the AI at this point. I only had one knight attack.

380AD (05) - End alliance with China. now making 13gpt

390AD (06) - Some deals must have ended we are now making 27gpt. Move some troops towards Byz.

IT: lose a pike and 2 roman knights are dead. Palace expansion.

400AD (07) - Build more knights.

IT: Roman knight and longbow lose. one elite pike. Istanbul builds bank. 44gpt. Back to knights.

410AD (08) - Edrine changed to bank.

420AD (09) - Incense is connected. Trade some to china for 15gpt and 6 gold. Assault on Byz. They have a cat. 1st knight wins promoting to elite. 2nd wins and we take it. Salt is ours! WW continues to grow. raise luxury and hire entertainers. down to 21 gpt.

IT: - Another palace expansion.

430AD (10) - Heal troops for battle in Ravenna. Lugdunum is now 1 happy rome laborer. Didn't even have to intentionally starve them. They were so unhappy that they wouldn't eat.

440AD (11) - Move into position on Ravenna

450AD (12) - Damn. 1 troop left in Ravenna

460AD (13) - In the battle of the Ravioli a great leader emerges. We lost no troops and have gained yet another luxury. 2 wines.

Sorry about the 3 extra turns. I wanted to finish the thought. I think we should continue to fight rome while the rest of the AI's are at war with them. We could snag at least 2 more cities if not more. I changed the build orders to banks and MP's around the core for much needed commerce. I think the best option for our leader is going to be a FP to prepare for our GA. We can either go with Sinop or our easternmost city would be a decent location. The AI has Chemistry and Astronomy at least. There are some gpt deals that expire soon. If we can get some infrastructure in the next few turns we will have a perfect GA. With steam, rails and industry close behind we may be able to even finish off China before infantry. That's a bit far ahead though.

Nice turns Voodoo :goodjob:

Let's get that FP in Sinop with the Leader please :)

Huh .... Finish off China before infantry ? You mean Rome I hope ?

Let's go on getting some Roman cities but we could also just let China do the dirty job and pick up the pieces behind ;)
As you mention maybe we could build up infrastructure (mainly banks) so that when our GA comes we can churn Sipahis real quick and blitz Rome.
We also talked about getting a Tech Lead just before Mil Trad with all AIs at war, that might be our moment now no ?

I meant China Skyfish. Rome is getting weak. Once we have Sapahi Rome will go very quick.

We will have Mil Tradition soon and China's GA is over or will be over. We should definately take a few more cities from Rome and make peace. I looked what our gpt will be with 0% luxury (we are at 20) and it would 108 gpt + we have a 37gpt deal ending soon. I checked on what we could get Chemistry for if we researched ourselves and at 80% it would take 6 turns. Maybe we could build a couple of Universities during our GA. I think we can get a tech lead and get some massive gpt payments from China.

Oops. I clicked on another save file and changed the date but missed the bc. BTW, I named the knight that promoted after myself :D

IT- Trade Japan Incense, Wines, 269 gold, and 14gpt for Chemistry, wasting 12 turns of our scientist. We cannot afford to wait that long anyways. Metallurgy is known by Japan, Zululand, and China. Start our lone scientist on Astronomy. I also trade 66gpt and 16 gold to Shaka for Metallurgy. No one has Military Tradition.

Early- Resistance ends in Ravenna. I continue to starve them and build workers. Rome brings a knight near Ravenna and he is dispatched. Two Knights attack Jerusalem. One wins, the other retreats. Zulu take Jerusalem. I should have waited one more turn to attack, but hopefully Rome will take it back or it will flip. Forbidden Palace is built in Sinop, instantly turning Konya into a powerhouse city. I go to work on a University to try to gain more of a cultural presence. A German Knight attacks and Kills voodocat. Sorry! Magellan's Voyage is built by the Zulu. I start to push Universities in our core. We will never get the 1000 year bonus if we don't get them soon AND I think we will be able to dominate research very soon with our two cores. The tech pace has started to slow since none of China, Zululand, and Japan are big researching civs. Roman Knight dies upon our Knight's sword, promoting him to Elite. Edrine builds Bank and starts University. Antalya builds Musketman and starts on Temple. This city should get a University and a Bank after.

Middle- I take Palmyra without any casualties. China has taken Hamburg and Rome is looking quite weak. Istanbul builds University. Adana builds Temple. Resistance ends in Palmyra. Lose a Medieval Infantry in trying to get back Jerusalem. Uhh, China moves 8 Riders into our territory near Adana. Deity ROP or potential Sneak attack? I shuffle three Knights from Lugdunum, but that's all I have right now. I destroy Jerusalem without any casualties. I sign a ROP with China to deter them from attacking. Germany has developed Astronomy, so I trade them Gunpowder, 221 gold, and 3gpt for it. The others have navigation and physics. Rome offers a peace treaty, straight up. Sure Caesar. Bit off a little more than you can chew? Roman Knight almost kills one of our Elites, but he holds on with 1hp. Izmit builds Temple. Chinese Riders disperse. Zulu have Military Tradition. Figures, the one turn I don't check, WW ratchets up.

Late- Berlin has fallen to China. A beautiful opportunity to broker comes up, but we cannot afford it. The next turn, everyone has it. Such is life. Zulu take Caesarea a turn before I can. We lose two Knights in a decent Roman attack on Ravenna. I sign peace with Rome for Navigation, 42 gold, and 3gpt, instead of 21 gpt without Navigation. There are no more cities worth taking and I think it's time to get out of this very successful war. Military Tradition is available for 58gpt and 273 gold, but I hold off for now. We're not quite ready to start Mass Producing Sipahi, so I'd like to wait for Rome to get it and further lower the price. Lone scientist starts Printing Press for lack of anything else. Several other buildings have been built that I did not write down.

Conclusion- We are now making 184gpt and can probably afford Physics and Military Tradition. I have left this decision to the next player. I would recommend the continued pushing of Universities and Banks in our two cores, and culture on our borders, as well as Muskets for every city. Soon we will have Sipahi, and then, look out China. If we can have our Golden Age and Mobilize at the same time.......

PS- I left a settler protected by a Knight near the former Jerusalem. Please settle there. Oh, and I apologize if I left any goto commands. My last turn snuck up on me. You might want to check around at the beginning of your turn Skyfish.

Nice work Speaker :goodjob: , good to get this baby going again.
I am going to play a good preparation round for the coming of our Golden Sipahi Age and let Voodoo show off his :hammer: warmonger :hammer: skills :D

Got it !

Please avoid buying optional techs like Economics, Printing Press, Democracy, and Free Artistry, which we do not need to advance to the next age. I only took Navigation so we wouldn't have to rely on a Chinese port for our deals with Japan and Zululand, since we will be going to war with China soon. I am pretty sure that nothing would happen, but did not want to leave any chance that our reputation could be ruined by something like that. Explorers can also be potentially very useful, although I don't see us using them. Maybe in Sirian or Sulla's hands they can do something, but I'm not quite sure what I would do with them.

Well I've been trying out some new tactics. I was playing a game a little while ago and decided I had enough diplo wins lately and to sharpen my war skills. The 2nd world war I had:

I attacked resources first.
I pillaged 2nd
I took cities 3rd.

They won't be able to support their own military units. plus the most important part, is the city starves. You keep the improvements when you take over the city.

This allowed me to weaken a civ w/o getting much WW. Then it was only a short time to take the enemy. In the late stage I took out the Americans in 3 turns of attacking the cities. I had about 50 MA's, 15 Arty's and a bunch of other various units. The Americans had 18 cities and infantry. Then in my war against the Iroquois, I took all 8 of their cities in 1 turn by just blitzing.
