How can I win this game?

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone could help to a good strategy to win this game? I took out the Khmer next to me with swords/catas and thought I had a strong enough army left to kill off native american but that didnt happend so now I think im in a pretty bad spot and need some advice.

I hope you can open the file I use the BAT mod

Unfortunately, I cannot open your save as you are using an older version of BAT. BAT was recently upgraded to v4.1, so I encourage you to update.

Also, note that it is much more beneficial to critique the earlier portion of your game as most mistakes are general made earlier on that snowball into rather hopeless situations later. I recommend starting a new game. Post much earlier reports for focused advice.

Having not upgraded BAT either, I took a quick look. My conclusion

10 kill your weakest neighbor
20 take his stuff
30 goto 10.

Huh...a strategy that is applicable to every civ 4 situation. I like it.

Thanks, im going to upgrade right after i finish this game. Is it possible to just run the 4.1 installer and install the update over my 3.0 version or will I have to reinstall the game completely?

Yea I know its a pretty late save, I dont think Im in a terrible position though, just looking for some advice on where to go from here

Generally to install BAT you should uninstall the old version. However, you can likely have both versions installed separately if you wish as BAT is stand-alone.

I forgot I had 3.0 installed on a different machine which I had jumped on later. Took the op to view your game briefly. Two things stand out to me without going into your game in detail:

1) You seem to be playing without purpose. I see no goals here at all, which usually are established much much earlier in the game. Likewise, your tech path is hodgepodge and quite behind generally speaking. This game is winnable though. Have not clue why you have 1800 gold banked unless you plan to upgrade units.

2) A tremendous amount of outdated units and virtually no siege equipment, although you may have used some previously. Bit surprising that you took fought Sitting Butt circa 1000AD with just Swords.

I saw a lot of other things but it is really better to discuss in context of a much earlier timeframe.

Otherwise, based on what I see, if you plan to war your way home and upgrade to some rifles, I suggest beelining to Steel for cannons then win.

Yea, I lost my focus after the defeat of the khmer. My goal at the start of the game was to kill off the khmer with swords/catas as I felt I was beeing boxed in. However I overestimated how many units I would need and ended up attacking too late and was then left with a huge stack of underteched units which proved to be too weak to take on the native american. I actually had quite a bit o siege when first attacking sitting bull but they all gave in to the longbowmen

As you say though its better to ask for advice earlier in game so I will download the update and start a new game instead of wasting time trying to finish this one.

Honesty, if you want more advice, I recommend downloading BUG/BULL and installing in Custom Assets(Single Player). Anyone can open your save, with or without a mod, using this method.

Certainly update BAT and play your own games with it, but BAT is BUG/BULL so you are not losing much by playing "forum" games with the BUG/BULL option - just the prettier graphics. It will give you a wider audience and bigger pool of advice.

(too bad folks just don't all play with BAT )
