As for myself, I've never bought a CD in my life. Never felt the need to. I get all the music I want from the radio and from launch.com (which I highly recommend if you have a fast connection, BTW).

Edit: Damn, I forgot to include, "I don't listen to music." Oh well.

Edit2: Just noticed that I included apostraphes to make CD plural. I hope Achinz doesn't kill me. ;)

Edit3: Please note that the link I provided is a perfectly legal source of music.

"Illegally" downloading music.

I buy cd's and make a copy of them for my car. This way the orriginal is not damaged, I think that it is legal also. I listen to the radio in my car ocasionally as well.

There should be a "copying friends and/or families CD's for own use" option :)

I don't listen to music.

I chose
Purchasing CD's/tapes/equivalent
&
Illegally downloading music.

It usually depends on the cd that im finding, if I cant find it at the store, I usually download it but will latter on buy it, if I find it.

You see in Canada p2p software for downloading mp3s is entirely legal so I cannot vote for "illegally downloaded music" :D

I buy Cds's. Many, many Cd's. I like CD's! If I think a band seems intresting usually I will try and hear them on their website or something (like free cd's with magazines or a friend etc), and if they sound good then i'll get a cd. I also go and see live music when I can. Sometimes i'll get into bands because i've seen them live and they were cool so i'll get there cd.

I've always bought cds, but some time ago I downloaded a lot as well, that I still listen to. I have copied a lot of it, and other people's music, onto MDs as well.

OT: I had some class mates who shoplifted cds and sold them to collector-store for very cheap. The worst way of making money I've ever seen...

Options 1,4 & 7. I usually hear music from a band or artist on the radio first, if I like it I'll download some songs, and if I like those too I'll start buying the cds/lps.

Actually, what I do is kind of interesting. My friend has sent me many mp3's by a direct connection in instant messager (which I assume he downloads illegally). If I really like a song he gives me, I look for the album that has that song in a store and buy it if I find it. (I figure that if that song's good, then the other songs on the disc are likely to be good as well, because they'll be more likely to be similar in style to each other) I'll admit that I've used Kazaa to get two songs myself, but I never share them back and I deleted it as soon as I was done using it.

For my partiality to classical music, it's our local ABC FM 24 hour classical station and about a score of live concerts during the year. I occasionally buy classical CDs particularly when there's a sale on.

For CM there is not much point in downloading stuff from the Internet as MP3 doesn't really provide the required sound quality. Even taping from FM radio and burning wav format into CDs is better.

Who is this h3ppy, if he is in favor of locking up criminals then he sounds like a capital fellow.
