Well? How interesting is your job?

Might as well say what your job is and why it is interesting or not, to keep this discussiony and not spammy, since I'd rather kill myself than make a thread that the mods don't like.

And if you dont have a job, since I forgot to add that to the poll, just post as if you did have a job, and that job was well-dressed asassin.

My job is varied:
- Programming
- Team management
- Technical solutions to find
- Demonstration to customers
- Installation of the software
- Training

There are lots of travel to discover new people and countries.

So it's quite interesting.

But is interesting similar to enjoyable?

For instance, travel are interesting, but I don't enjoy being cramped in an airplane for 12 hours, I don't enjoy the jetlag, or being away from my familly

slot technician. But I actually do a little bit of everything. Including flirting with my female coworkers. Most of my clerks are female. I can't complain.

Lately, I'm getting a little bored. I usually do after a couple years. This job is no challenge. I get some flak from my peers (not the clerks) because they think I'm stuck up. Perhaps I do act like I'm better than them (I am). I can't seem to make friends with them. But I do make friends with the clerks. oh well. The problem is I'm way overqualified for my job. But I lack motivation to get better jobs. And I hate stressful jobs.

I sometimes deal with low class people (the customers :)). But that doesn't bother me too much. I don't have to deal with them 8 hours a day thankfully. I couldn't handle that.

Some of the neighborhoods I go into aren't that great. But that adds interest to my job. I like the threat of being mugged, kidnapped, or killed. but I like my mob because I'm not stuck at one location. On the other hand, I have to deal with traffic, and being killed/injured by a drunk/stupid driver. But I have freedom, and don't have to worry too much about people watching over my shoulder. I hate that.

Sorry, this is turning into a how much I like my job post. But I think the two are related. I prefer jobs that interest me. Sure I could work in a library or something. But that would bore me to death. I would never work a job that doesn't interest me at least a little bit.

So I say, yes my job is a little interesting in the fact that I meet new and sometimes interesting people. Even if some of them are technically crazy.

It's kinda intresting, because in the process of it I learn about wine and soemtimes taste new wines. The everyday bits (serving customers and stacking shelfs) are of course generally very boring.

I'm a top-flight research scientist, and I s'pose my work is interesting enough to make me turn up. Most days anyway.

I don't think many people here have a more interesting job than I do for nights (being a musician). I could go on and on about that.

my day job, working for a catering service, isn't really that cool.

Im a nominally a "science educator", but i do shows and performances. I get to do mad science experiments and have easy acess to all kinds of scientific equipment and chemicals, its a fun enviroment. In a few years I hope my move to Australia would be finalised, so i don't think i would have time to get bored of it. My most interesting job so far was as a dancer.

Well, im at work right now.....So i'l make you guess.

i think most of us are :lol:

my job is interesting i suppose, i manage a bingo hall (if you know what a bingo hall is) with 4 in the management team. that's strictly speaking 2 too many, but how else are we going to find time to surf? we make sure the gaming act is upheld, everyone does what they're supposed to, and try to ensure we don't go broke. at the moment we're doing about 20% better than expected, which keeps the area manager of our backs. :scan:

In the moring I boss people around and watch people create the things I draw on paper. Then I come home and draw pictures and try to come up with cleaver ways of doing things better. Some times when I have a brilliant idea I test it out in things like earthquake simulaters and temp. variation rooms or my favs. the gun range and the tornadoe/hurricane testing place.

My job sucks a donkey's ass.

* Vicious office politics
* Working on stuff I don't like
* Meaningless paperwork

Have you ever consider writing a script for the sequel to "Office Space?":lol:

I work part time in editorial in a news agency. It's interesting work with flexible hours but I hate the deadlines and annoying people ringing up wanting this and that.

In the Netherlands we have a very succesfull novel, containing ~7.000 pages, about a guy working at a (scientific) bureau who really hates his work and his collegueas. It's a sort of diary and it longs ~30 years and its based on reality.

I'm a Physics lecturer. Pretty interesting - if you're as passionate about Physics as I am.

It's pretty god damn boring.

You forgot: working with dutch (6!) people.
Stop that! I'm not complaining about my Dutch coworkers. I only said two of them seemed like they were talking down to me, but I couldn't be sure.

I have written letters of complaint to the higher ups in the past. It makes for good reading. I think I have a total of 14 pages of complaints about one particular very evil boss woman. She's the stereotypical backstabbing, lying, demand extra-work-with-no-pay boss. I considered posting the letters here just because they're such good reading, but I changed my mind.
