How is your EU3 Game going?

Ok, this is what it would look like btw:

Haven't you already expanded Byzantium to fill those borders before?

My plan is to inherit France then become France myself and unite the HRE for some nice blobbing. I have not planned any further because I do not know how long this will take and knowing myself I will lose interest in the game anyway after having united the empire.

That's an impressive diplomatic résumé, Chegel. On what difficulty are you playing?

I can see why you'd turn off Historical Lucky Nations playing as Burgundy, but even Random Lucky Nations gives you some end-game bosses to contend with. :)

I never play with lucky nations.

The union with France I could have even forced if they had been lucky I think because they were busy in a war against Aragon and England when I realized my claim on their throne was still active after I completed my first few missions to conquer Brabant, Liege and Hainaut. This was lucky on my part but I occupied Paris and most of the northern provinces before they even moved their armies there.

The western HRE minors are always happy to join their brethren in wars against Burgundy but the Emperor will not protect them because Burgundy is a member itself. I think there should be some sort of penalty for vassals in the HRE like the penalty for unlawful territory. In the war against Luxembourg Trier and Köln joined and so I got two electors as vassals and a core on Luxembourg for just 9 infamy.

When I was playing Austria, I had something like 17 royal marriages at my height and, even after forming the HRE, I still had something like 15 vassals. :D

I had a rather bad or very bad reputation for most of the game so the relations are not very good but I do not care about relations or royal marriages. Spheres of Influence however...

Oh, and I did inherit France in 1454, unfortunately before they could annex Berry and Orleanais so I had to force another union on the first one after they conquered the latter one. And Maine has to core before I can become France.

Why bother becoming France? In my opinion, if you'd wanted to be France, you'd have played as France to begin with. :)

Well, there are four slider moves towards centralization and three towards aristocracy. There is +2 base tax in Paris and a free change to Absolute Monarchy with government 25 instead of 27.

But I need a good king for the last one, most of these slider moves are unnecessary and I would not gain any cores. So maybe you are right. It is not too important for this game.

I've only ever completed four games, as England, Burgundy, Sweden and Austria. I have had countless other games to try out realms, gain DW achievements or simply do very badly. I have yet to try Byzantium. :)

Oh, WIM! Hire a diplomat, embrace the Cabinet and get lots of cardinals. You have no need to cheat!

The embassy is not so bad either.

Personal unions are the way to go in the HRE. Just check the countries without proper heir all the time, claim thrones and fight for them.
