How is your EU3 Game going?

Having fun with my Burgundy game !

Here's Europe:

Note Uber-Transilvania ! I took this picture because a confrontation is prolly just around the corner ...
Also note Uber-France. I didn't really care what was going on to the west of me up until now. I didn't really mind France's succesfull annexations and succesfull wars with Castille, England, Denmark and everyone else since they never bothered me with anything. But ... a few years ago ... they claimed the throne of friggin Austria and expanded their sphere of influence in Holstein, Savoy, Norway. Oh, not in my Holy Roman Empire he didn't ! It's going DOWN.
Here's my vassals:
Spoiler :

I finished my first victorious war on France and took 4 provinces (one was a reconquest). The put up a good fight but were exhausted from a war with England 1 year ago and had no chance against the combined army of all my vassals.

But how can i convince Avignon to join the HRE ? They are my vassals - is there a way to make them ? Same thing for the Papal States.

Good god man, forget Transylvania, look at that Ramazan.

I have no pictures to go with my updates this time cause I'm at work. In Europe, things are progressing slow but steady, after about 12 small countries chain DoW'ed me I ended up with like 7 vassals and I've been slowly diplo-annexing them ever since. Genoa lost much of it's territory so they are looking like a ripe target right now, I'm at 0 infamy again and looking for targets and they are probably it since I have a quest to annex them right now (they were huge for a while, it looked like they inherited some serious land in the east but it's not their's anymore).

In the new world, the colonization of South America proceeds smoothly. The Inca still have some territory and Great Britain has a few provinces they took from the Inca but otherwise I own the continent and part of Central America. I also ended up with Trinidad, part of Cuba, part f the Dominican Republic, and some other random islands.

Africa looks more or less the same, I haven't conquested any new territory, but after running out of discovered provinces to take in South America I did start colonizing the southern tip of Africa, so I've got a few more down there now.

Right now my standing army is like 4x the size of anyone else's. Honestly I consider the game effectively over at this point, I've won. The only reason I'm not starting a new game is because I don't have time, Shadowrun Returns is coming out on Thursday and once that happens I'll be done with EU3 for a while. An hour after work here and there over the next 3 evenings really isn't enough time for a new game, so I'll continue cranking away at this one until the time comes to put it away.

I'm going to miss holy wars.

Also noteworthy: I have a personal union with Hungary.

40 infamy? That's waaay too much

I've kept it down for the most part, but with my last war with China I figuered I'd use the holy war to it's fullest potential, as I now have lost it. My heir have 9 diplomacy, I think, so it's not too bad.

Heres my current game:

It might be the first game of EU3 that I actually complete as I'm not the biggest / richest nation. Based on income, the Ottomans are on 12k, Persia 10k and then me and Spain are on 6.5k. Troop numbers follow a similar pattern with the Ottomans and Persia having 500k and me and Spain having around 300k.* The screenshot is just after the first German - Ottoman war where their troop numbers fell to 200k but have disappointingly been restored in 2 or 3 years.

* I will have more troops once my manpower replenishes.

Impressive Russia for 1657, Lohrenswald. You may well end up with a larger Russia than I had in my Novogorod game - I had a similar empire around the end of Holy Wars, a bit more in some places, less in others, but I think less overall. And I did the same thing with maxing out Holy War infamy.

Looks like MPM, More Provinces Mod.

Yep, I do like playing on a map with a lot more provinces but it does make the big nations much more powerful so nations like Aragon and Burgundy don't stand much chance of doing well.

Forgot to say that I started as Brunswick, helped a lot by random missions to conquer / vassalise x neighbour early on.

Thanks, but it would be more impressive if I played on a higher difficulty
I also started as Muscowy, which get a lot of helpful missions to unite Russia, unlike Novgorod. I'd like to see a screenshot from your game, though.

I've been playing a bit further. The expantion has cooled a bit down I feel, but I have absolute monarchy and the cabinet, so I can continue almost as before.

The Netherlands formed (a long time ago), but now they only have Utrecht left in Europe, andhave moved their capital to Canada (where they also have lost a lot of land).

Here's where I was in 1659, the closest save I have to 1657. I only play at Normal difficulty - not really sure what the higher ones change other than the infamy limit.

I'd gone more for the Middle East, but you had a lot more of India, as well as China. This was my Republic game - I was an Administrative Republic at this time, and ended the game as a Constitutional Republic. So if you keep going as an Absolute Monarchy, you'll probably have a lot more land than I did in 1821, barring bad luck with monarchs' diplomatic ability.

1659 was not too long after I'd converted to Orthodoxy - at that point I was nearly 40% Catholic, 25% Orthodox, and 20-25% Sunni, with Hindu and Shiite combined at 15-20%. That's why I was expanding in the Middle East - to take Jerusalem and Mecca for missionaries.

Austria and the Teutons had a vendetta against me early, and I converted to Catholicism for most of a century to placate them. Then I fought an epic war with Austria in which only General Winter prevented my demise. Even in 1659, Austria had 209,000 troops to my 210,000, with Spain leading at 217,000. But tech-wise, this was a really good game:

Level 31 in all except Trade (30) in 1659. I ended the game at Level 70 across the board, except Production, which was at the maximum of 74.

Hello pals. I dont know how could I miss this, but now I found this thanks to some rutinary stalking and subbed. :mischief:

I had this MP game going on as Brittany with my pal being Scotland. We were just doing fine a few weeks ago, when we last played. I own northern Morocco and Navarra, while Scotland owns Gibraltar and the Baleares. But I am poor as rats. D:

Actually in the totally awful Neapolitan war of succession I needed to peace with Venice so they actually control Gibraltar. Will take back one day.

Best moment of the game though had to be the Breton liberation of Scotland.
-Scotland had been completely by the invading Moroccan Army however the Scots fleet was still operating out of Gibraltar as was the Breton one and together they managed to ensure that the occupying forces couldn't return home.
Eventually the Bretons managed to Force a peace with the Moroccans ending the occupation, restoring the Scottish Monarchy to Scotland and gaining some overseas colonies.

However the mechanics regarding declarations of war meant that The Neapolitan war of Succession went completely wrong and I ended up losing all my cool stuff.

Yeah, thanks to that Moroccan ocupation of Scotland our warscore wouldn't get over 61%

But it didn't really need to be higher?

We did start the war only with the goal of Gibraltar.

YOUR goal of Gibraltar. Thank goodsies you were in a regency period and I had to declare war, or things would have been much much worse.
