How is your Victoria Game going?

I will get Heart Of Darkness at some point, waiting for patches and price to (hopefully) fall on gamersgate (last time I buy a game on there, gonna get paradox games on steam from now on!).

I hope improved alerts for colonising also means that if I click on the colony icon in the top bar then it will take me to the colony in question. It's very annoying to keep ending up in the diplomacy screen!

Yeah it does seem to.
What it doesn't do (which is what I was hoping for), is give you an option for a popup when your outpost is ready to upgrade to a protectorate.

Anyway it seems to be much better now! The economy actually seems to work properly and the dominions make a lot more sense (there's only been a few releases and they mostly make sense).

The only thing is that they added some rather brutal naval attrition if your ships aren't able to get their 30% supply - I'm not convinced this is a good idea given the way this game handles supply and demand of military goods.

For me, the advantage of GamersGate for Paradox games is that you can roll back to a previous version if you were silly enough to buy a new expansion in the first couple of weeks and half the game is freshly broken. Also to go back to previous versions for particular mods

All Paradox stuff is going to be on sale on Amazon tomorrow, including HoD which will be $13! Not sure if it's the Steam version or not.

Just coming back from my first POD game since HOD release - awesome stuff. First of all, I got a great depression in 1850, basicially halting industrial development for a decade. Then I saw a huge european war raging for almost 8 years, leaving half of the continent in ruins.

...and my little Scandinavia snickered as it became #3 nation. Until the Russians paid me a visit with their English ally and enforced 12 wargoals on me. :gripe:

:D

Is POD the latest incarnation of the PDM/APD mod for HOD? If so, does it mesh well with the new colonial and crisis mechanics, or is it still a little rough around the edges?

Yea, Pop of Darkness.

I've been playing a bit and there are a bunch of improvements they mod from A Pop Divided. But, unfortunately, it's still buggy (like after winning the Civil War there are still Confederate troops still alive...) and crashy (I can't get passed 18 January 1868 for some reason... probably has to do with the beta patch, same with the CSA glitch).

The current version is more or less just adjusted to run with the new expansion, but it does work quite well for that.

I want to like PoD, but I can't stand the stupid military changes. The people who suggest the changes have no idea what the numbers actually do which leads to the AI crashing and burning with the military.

So this happened in my recent Japan game. The battle gave me 163 warscore.

too bad you can only max out battle warscore at 50. :p

It is a shame. :p I wish there was no limit on battle warscore. I feel like this battle should be considered a war crime.

Yea, I don't like them either, but I like too much of the other stuff...
Yeah, although, the HoD economy functions very well and reasonable now, so I don't really miss the economy addons. Then the New Nations Mod adds all the good event stuff, making PoD even more redundant.

Well I bought the expansion. I have little willpower when it comes to paradox games.

First tiem round as Prussie. Formed Germnay by 1866 or something. I'm doing ok.

I can never seem to get the 'Super Germany's I see other people achieve.

I'll second NNM. It's basically PDM lite, with the new countries (duh) and events, but without the wholescale rebuild of the game.
