I played this schiznit out of Civ I back in '92-'95. Then I had no computer access for a couple years & kinda got back into it but not really (barely played at all during my year at college).

I tried Civ II but didn't get into it immediately and was Civless for a few years until I decided to give it a 2nd try. I did and got hooked. I got into multiplayer and got more hooked. Then I found CivFanatics and organized some massive multiplayer Civ II marathons. Read about the biggest one here

Then I got sucked into OT and the rest is history. :D

I don't play much anymore and haven't played more than sporadicly since '03. I never got into Civ III either (never tried IV).

Narz's Civilization (I & II) site :)

i've been playing civ II on my playstation 1. WHO CAN SAY THAT HERE!?!
:p
i love civ III and civ IV but i tend to play civ IV more.

I played Civ1 a long time ago and liked it, I rediscovered the game as C3C was coming out (and liked it), and have played all the releases since, I'm finding BtS to be best of all but only because of privateers, forts, random events, and better AIs (I'm not too into espionage or corporations) added to the warmongering awesomeness of C4 Warlords.

C4 beats C3 in one principle way, IMHO: pitboss.

Oh, and I recently discovered the Hall of Fame on this site, it's like a multiplayer singleplayer. Worth checking out. :)

I played Civ 1 and lost sight of Civ untill CIV.

I absolutely love CIV. Religion and cultural borders make for diverse game each time, so replayability is pretty darn good. :)

Played it all, loved it all. Civ-addicted since 1992. However, there is no game I've played more and longer than colonization. I liked the idea of so many commodoties. Civ3 and civ4 have this rather stupid idea of having one source of ore that can supply iron for a gazillion tanks

I came across OT looking for Civ 3 Vanilla mods/scenarios (after shortly after Conquests came out), and since most of the mods/scenarios obviously didn't work, I started exploring other sub-fora. I play C3C fairly frequently.

I unintentionally found OT, my portal to the hostilities of other posters.

I'm a huge fan of CIV in all its incarnations since '91.
I only discovered CFC earlier this year and got hooked on the Civ Strategy and tips section at first (as a lurker). 'Stories and Tales' (and specifically Sisiutil's work) made me register. Wandered into 'forum games' after a while and discovered OT at the same time.
I hardly play Civ anymore (haven't finished a single BtS game, yet), but I hardly play at all nowadays. I know I will get back into it someday though. ;)

I still play civ 3 and feel like the modding has made that game live forever. I own civ 4 and it sits on my bookshelf. I honestly don't know why but I just do not enjoy civ 4.

The civ4 expansions also annoyed me because I bought every civ3 expansion on release day. I felt like with civ 4 they just took all that material out and tried to sell it right back to me in increments again. So I pretty much just gave up on civ4 for now because I honestly felt ripped off.

If it is, at all, any consolation, I have chosen to spend my time conquering the world (I'm serious), a pursuit for which the ambition is at least somewhat the result of my endless hours of Civilization play. You could say that I am trying to play civilization on a larger scale.

ho do you intend on doing this and where can i sign up?

1, 2, 3, 4... I've seen 'em all. Except for BtS.

I've alternated between Civ2 and Civ3 on a fairly regular basis. Right now, I'm playing Civ3 (INEMONH, coincidentally enough).

A leap in graphics perhaps, but the gameplay went straight downhill.

I find it tragic that for all the advancements made in Civ4 (religion, Great people), the underlying game itself has actually worsened. I've never been able to play Civ4 the same way as I have the previous games (Space Race is about the only way I can win. That I've tried, anyway). If it wasn't for the newer features (and music), I would've uninstalled it long ago.
