That is what we call a bomb. You get what you pay for.

Nah, 'twas a bargain. Agree you get what you pay for, but knowing what you're looking at helps. As does buying from the parent of one of the students you tutor, who simply wants to get rid of the car because he has a new one. I have driven bombs before, the corolla is pretty reliable.

It depends on where you are and who you buy it from. Some people sell their car not to make a profit. They just wanted to get rid of it. One of my neighbors was selling a 6 month old porsche for $20,000. That's dirt cheap. I wanted to buy it, but my parents wouldn't let me.
