How To: Make Leaderheads! Ekmek's Guide

What's wrong with the eyeshadow in this Oliver Cromwell nif? When I add animation to it, I get the bug eyes.

I am playing with the light and it's easy enough to adjust--just frustrating to restart my mod every time I make an adjustment. Is there another way to know if it's working without starting up the game?

If you are only messing with the light (well at least in NifSkope) you don't have to exit the game, just set it to be played in windowed mode. Then select the leader you want to look at, make the proper changes, save the nif, and then select a different leader and then go back to the leader you want to look at. You SHOULD be able to see the change without reloading the mod, at least that's what I do and it works for me.

also you can Alt+Tab to switch to nifskope and leave civ running

hey guys, just started working with leaderheads for the first time. I downloaded most of the tools needed at the beginning of this thread but the nifskope link shows up as an error not found.
I've downloaded nifskope before to mod fallout 3 game fx but i uninstalled and have no idea where i could find another trusted download. if you could update the download link or hand me a credible site to download from i'd be willing to make you close and personal vassal states of my great nation...now that's a great..and rare..offer...

Thanks Capo and Ekmek regarding the nifskope. About the Cromwell nif, I don't think the eyeshadow is showing up once I add the animation (or load the game). If one of you has a minute, would you load the blender save and/or nif and see if you can isolate the issue. I think he is completed if I can get the eyeshadow right.

Thanks Ekmek, now I know how to put mostache to the LeaderHead:D. But when I put it (the mostache), Blender give me a message, says: ''Cannot export mesh with unweighted vertices...'' What happened? :confused:please, help me.

Also, there is the easiest part: select all the moustache and assign it to the head.

I downloaded your Cromwell stuff, but there don't seem to be any texture files in there so if you could provide those I can take a look at this LH for you.

Ekmek,

I couldnt find out how to navigate to import stuff. your tutorial just says hit the button below the P button.... wheres this p button? i didnt see the p button....
If you were talking about the keyboard that didnt do anything :(

on page 6 of my Aug-4-2009 version of the guide (or just look in the import section of myold if thats what you have). I circled the nav buton in red, the P button is above that where the Path name is.

Sorry you didnt make it very clear witch button you have to push on the drop down menu. I had to count which number up from the bottom. It never says what to select after "Import"

(Yes i really suck at this so far) When I open the .nif it opens as a overhead view. How do I rotate him?

thx. i'll update it in the next version. no one else had that problem, weird.

you can change views. I have a changing view section in the guide I think. (don't have it with me right now).

trust me, we all did. blender is not that intuitive.

I have been working on some "practice Leaderheads" (not the ones in my sig but just experiementing with some existing leaderheads) and in the .nif files I exported, they didn't have any texture. In-game, their Civilopedia entries didn't have their biographies, favorite civics, nationality, traits or animation. During a game, it crashes if I encounter them. What might be wrong there?

did you do the nifswap?

I think I missed that step  I'll try again like that (the reason I'm practicing is because I'd like to get good enough to have confidence when creating Mugabe and BB.)
