How To: Make Leaderheads! Ekmek's Guide

click on the box and press x to delete it. its part of the start up. to get rid of it from the default next time you start blender before you open your blend hit a for select all, the x for delete, then ctrl+u to set a blank page as the default setting.

and to be honest if you don't have time to dedicate a few hours straight to doing a LH its going to be tough to learn it.

Hello again, Ekmek!

Now that I got a lot more free time for a while, I've been trying to play around with LHs again. However, unsurprisingly, I've come across problems again. I'll post the first screenshot:

I've followed the tutorial up to the exporting of the nif, but for some reason every time I try to export it, it doesn't export - it says that the program can't "export mesh with unweighted vertices", but I have no idea what it means or why it's there.

Still, I think the reason I've been having my problems with LHs so far is because in your tutorial, it never told me how to delete the original suit, so I didn't know exactly what to delete so I may have deleted necessary parts.

Basically, my question here is, let's say I have already imported a nif, and I am ready to delete the original suit. What exactly am I supposed to delete? Just the faces? Everything? The faces and the edges? Here's a screen if you're confused:

When I remove a suit or something, first I seperate the mesh with "P" (make SURE you are in edit mode and that your cursor is in the 3d view) then go to object mode and delete it.

^I know how to separate and delete, but it's just that for some reason the tutorial doesn't tell me exactly what to delete - just the faces? faces and edges? So I just guessed and deleted both the faces and edges.

Unweighted verticles means that you haven't assigned all parts to the skeleton, which is described in the toturial. To get rid of this problem you have to search aroun for parts you may not have seen. When i made my Julius i found that there was part's under the buttons, where you would not see, so you should expect to find them in strange places. A tip is to use the Select buttons on the bones to find if there is a thing that you missed. More details i think can ne found earlyer in this toturial. Good luck with your new LH

Ah. I see. So basically there are some parts lying around somewhere that I probably missed, that needs to be assigned. Alright, that really does help me a lot.

Thanks!

well it depends what you are doing. if you haves faces you don't need, delete the faces. if its a separated object you can delete it in object mode. in general I delete in edit mode by highlighting the faces I don't need then select delete (press X)

I think this is covered in the section where you find some of deGaulle's rist and you need to get rid of them

@unweighted vertices - yeah this seems to be everyone's biggest problem. in the latest ersion of the guide i cover it in the troubleshooting section

@flying pig. I'm looking into it and will post it in your thread.

Thanks for all the help! I apparently was using an outdated tutorial, so I just downloaded the new one and there were a few things that I did miss. Hopefully I'll get something done soon!

And ekmek, that find unweighdted verticles tip from Flying Pig's link, why dont we find this in your toturial:confused:

i think my trouble shooting section says to go through each bone and select each one so they hilight then hide the highlighted ones. this way you see stuff behind whats hidden, instead of just deselecting.

Hey Ekmek, i cant figure out how to make the polygons show up on the Leaderhead.... i did what you said in the tutorial to make them show up... but no polygons...

Thanks Capo and Ekmek regarding the nifskope. About the Cromwell nif, I don't think the eyeshadow is showing up once I add the animation (or load the game). If one of you has a minute, would you load the blender save and/or nif and see if you can isolate the issue. I think he is completed if I can get the eyeshadow right.

texpatriate. i opened your nif but see no texture to the eyeshadow. since i only have the nif and blend what happens with the eyeshadow in game? is it pink? does it really matter?

Ekmek, quick question: I am trying to make a LH which will have Brennus' hair, but when I try to select the hair the whole body is selected. Is there a quick way to select Brennus' hair or do I need to take the long way and make a circle around the hair, hide it and select what's inside?

unfortunately, the long way...

well there is an option on select where you can increase your selection. one time i selected parts of a hair then increased the selection until it got close to all the hair and picked the rest. but this method isnt really that great.

This really sucks! Well, I'll wait for a time when I have enough patience to do it then...
