How To: Make Leaderheads! Ekmek's Guide

I'm doing a new project (the other one is on hiatus). I'm making a Mao-based leaderhead with Wang Kon's clothes. I managed to successfully remove the face, hands and bones from him. However, when I open Mao's blend and I try to import the robe, nothing happens: Mao doesn't have Wang Kon's robe. What's going on?

This is something I just haven't seen before, so hopefully someone around here can help me figure it out. I noticed it while playtesting my mod, a while ago, but am getting around to another LH-update (which means more leaderheads for the community) and I started a game as Spain to test out a new wonder and this is what happened:

EDIT: I should note that he doesn't always show up like that when you start a game, and that is one way he shows up in the civilopedia, I just didn't put it in the following round of images.

I noticed before this that in the Civilopedia Franco seemed to show up with different types of shaders/gloss/lighting whatever. I can't figure out why this is. Here are the vast arrays of different ways he looks, this is the same LH at the same time. It happens when you switch to another LH and back to Franco. He is the only one who is doing this and no I didn't unload and reload, this is all from the same load at the same time:

EDIT: Just so everyone knows, there are no reskins or anything, this is all the same skin in these images.

I have never encountered anything like this, and have no idea how or why this is happening. If anyone out there could help me figure this out, you would make me (and Vrenir) a very happy man. :goodjob:

Here is the XML in case I did something wrong there, although that would be an embarassing rookie mistake if I had:

Code:
		<LeaderheadArtInfo>
			<Type>ART_DEF_LEADER_FRANCO</Type>
			<Button>art/LeaderHeads/Franco/Btn_Franco.dds</Button>
			<NIF>art/LeaderHeads/Franco/franco.nif</NIF>
			<KFM>art/LeaderHeads/Franco/napoleon.kfm</KFM>
			<NoShaderNIF>art/LeaderHeads/Franco/franco.nif</NoShaderNIF>
			<BackgroundKFM>art/LeaderHeads/Franco/napoleon_BG.kfm</BackgroundKFM>
		</LeaderheadArtInfo>

I have also attached the files for Franco. Thanks, and ¡buena suerte!

I think this is what happens when you try to shader a LH without going through blender. The all black at first looked like the non-shader to shader issue but you lighting swithing thing just seems like a shader issue.

What did you try to do to this guy?

I did use blender to shader him. Also, you might not be able to tell from the screen, but when he is all black he still has the shaders on him, you can see it.

I haven't had that problem...I've never even encountered (or played as) Franco.

I don't think so. You'd better attach it in Blender just to be sure. Go back a few pages to see my mini-guide I posted here.

Here's the problem with that guys, I did this in Blender so I just loaded it up in Blender to do it again and it is already "done." So I don't really know what to do, that's why I posted it here (I'm not an idiot, so telling me to follow a guide isn't going to do anything because that is already done). I don't have time now, but I can post some screen-shots if it will help, but in Blender everything looks fine.

I'll try the NifSkope thing out first and see what happens.

Basically this is NikNaks' Franco and (I believe) mechaerik's Franco merged together and then polished. So I took elements of both, merged them together, and then fixed a few things here and there and added some new stuff.

Capo, once you've solved it, change his BG. It looks like you're lying on the ground while talking to him.

Yeah, I tried finding a Falange HQ or Political office or something like that, but I couldn't, apparently there is still a pretty ardent modern-day falange so everything looks pretty modern.

If you find anything I'd be more than happy to use it, I don't like simple outdoorsy shots, especially for modern leaders.
