How would you change history?

I would prevent World War 1 and 2. Prevent Germany unifying and watch as the British Empire lasts a thousands years!!

EDIT: Oh and keep Ireland in the UNion.

keeping an empire that big is impossible. unless of course you kill every native and populate it with your own people. and kill everyone else in the immediate area for good measure.

India alone will make it hard.

We managed it for a pretty long time. Indeed in Aden they're now clamoring for us back, since they've realised that the big, strange white man in a funny hat with a gun is actually some use some of the time. Remember where that bomber on Christmas Day came from?

So, you'd ensure the survival of a racialist oligarchial empire? What happened to all that "live as free men" crap you're usually into?

in my time line the British empire collapsed much sooner. when the Confederate states destroyed the navy and conquered part of the mainland itself, Britain surrendered. without the British government, the colonies rapidly declared independence and neutrality only India remained in the allied side.

that happend in WWII. the Byzantines had to do ALL the work...

I would travel back in time an kill every man, woman and child of every indigious and/or native civilization ever(except the Serbs ofcoarse) and prevent ww 1 and 2, then travel back and marvel at the glory of the mighy Britzantine empire and see how it lasts 1000 years.

you ripped off my ( and probabaly others) idea. that is not a good idea.

anyway, if you kill every single native except the Serbs, then the Byzantine Empire rules 100% of the world. it pretty much will last forever.

By that logic the US should never have broken away from the British Empire since they were all Englishmen.

To be fair, the main argued reason for "inevitable" colonial rebellions (nationalism) did not exist- whatever the British thought, the people in the colonies mostly saw themselves as Englishmen.

Englishmen, only without the "right of Englishman" or taxation without representation.

I'd go back in time and prevent Constance, daughter of Roger II of Sicily, from marrying Holy Roman Emperor Henry VI. She could become queen if she wanted, or maybe I would just place someone more suitable on the throne. With a more stable kingdom, Charles of Anjou won't be meddling around and ruining the kingdom.

Well, Englishmen, Dutchmen, Germans (of many stripes), Swedes, French Hugenots, Scotsmen, Scots-Irishmen and Welshmen. But, broad speakly, yes, by the War of Independence they were, by and large, cultural Anglos.

Racialist? Don't know where you got that from? The fact that Indians are brown and the Irish are white doesn't mean anything to you?
Ogliarchial - check out the 19th century tests to get into the Indian Civil service - it was open to anyone even Indians (eventually) this is the meritocratic system we devoloped.

British colonies were free we were never tyrants like the Nazi's or the Japanese Empire we were good overlords.

Oh and "live as freemen" = crap to you? You don't like Freedom? You prefer Soviet Union? SOunds like it.

Over my dead body.

Well we do have a section of Ireland if you didn't know?

So you going to come to England and kill us? Romantic nationalism. You don't know anything about UK/Irish conflicct- "AWW I WAS IRISH - ONCE"...
