A nice touch on the Franks. I like that they are expansionist and probably somewhat scientific with the EQ.

Surprised but pleasantly so with them being expansionist. With them and the Byzantines accounted for, I wonder who are going to be the aesthetes this era?
If an East Asia culture gets in that's who I would expect.
As in Kamakura Japan or Silla, not the Mongols.
The Khmer are a possibility but they might make more sense as either Agrarian or Builder.

Surely the Ming must be Aesthete. I don't really see how that classification would fit any of the other cultures I expect to see this era though. Very interesting...

IF I were speculating in a vacuum, I'd say Aesthete could fit nicely with any of the Caliphates, or Safavid Persia, or Song China, but I don't think we've seen indications which if any of those are even in the Base Game.

As for the Franks, the Miletes puts them squarely in the Capetian period. Ironically for the 'Feudal' Middle Ages, the Capetian kings spent a great deal of their time putting down revolts by their so-called feudal retainers, so the majority of the Milites weren't really 'knights', they were Mercenaries! Of course, an armored man on horse with lance means Knight to the average Gamer regardless of his title, birth, breeding or lack of it . . .

And, of course, a large number of the scribblers in the Scriptoriums were originally Irish, so another 'borrowed' Emblematic like the 'English; Longbow!

I guessed the trait of the Franks wrongly (Aesthete), but Expansionist is a good fit for them. I only guessed Expansionist for the Mongols. Not sure who will have Aesthete in this era, or even Scientist. Looks like the skipped first faction (probably Aztecs), will have to wait.....

The Franks are fascinating to me in pretty much all periods (from migration to Charlemagne's empire), even later medieval France is interesting. I'm guessing the French will appear in the Industrial Era though (Napoleonic).

Yes that's probably the best option, though do we know for sure if the Ming are in this era or Early Modern?

I'm not sure if I'm grateful or disappointed their EU isn't the Paladin. :p

Probably because too many gamers would be asking questions like "Why can't they use magic?"

So I'm guessing the remaining unrevealed Medieval cultures are the Aztecs, "Ghana", the Khmer, the Mongols, the Teutons, Umayyads, and the Vikings, leaving no room for the Ming in Medieval.

Ghana is the one I'm least sure about though. Someone spotted an Akan symbol on that poster, and assumed Amplitude mixed up the Ashanti (in present-day Ghana) with the Ghana empire. Benin is also another source of confusion (Benin kingdom was in present-day Nigeria but there's a modern country with this name now).

Ha! I have managed to guess correctly they'd be expansionist.
Love their general aestethic, Frankish Knight as a special unit, and Scriptorium as very original take on special building (I like how it displays that nicer, intellectual part of so called dark ages).

I’m still holding out hope that the Holy Romans are their own Culture and that they’ll get the Paladin as their unit, given that Roland et al are most closely associated with Charlemagne.

I find it hard to believe we're going to have 2 eras in a row with no East Asian representative. I think it's more likely that the Holy Roman Empire won't make the cut.

Perhaps, but I'm still expecting to see the Teutons in Medieval era. Maybe Aztecs really got pushed to Early Modern, and the Arabs or Abbasids are in instead of Umayyads?
