Humankind - Ming discussion thread

Moderator Action: This is a discussion of the Ming in the Humankind game. It is not about the morals of nations so do not go there. Back to the topic.

A teahouse... Interesting pick.

Personally, I would have classed the Ming as Builders, given them something like an “Imperial Complex” as their EQ, with their EE being the hu dun pao (crouching tiger cannon).

I’m not opposed to the inclusion of the rocket cart however, as it makes up for the lack of hwacha in the Korean line.

Yeah the Aestethe also got me by surprise, I was honestly expecting the Ming to be Builder or Merchant. I guess we can hope that the EQ will make enough of a difference so that Edo and Ming play very differently.

The EQ seems to have as big if not bigger impact than the affinity. Also there are more differences than just EQ and affinity between cultures since they have a legacy trait and a EU.

I was predicting either Aesthete or Merchant for the Ming. I saw that artwork before this reveal and was confused by the style of the clothing for the official/or emperor? I'm not sure the thing on his head is appropriate for the Ming Dynasty. If that man is supposed to represent the Emperor, I would have expected him to wear yellow. The only detail that really tells me it's the Ming is the Great Wall.

A Merchant Ming would have been cool, with the artwork showing Zheng He's treasure ship....
There are many pieces of artwork and 3D models that will potentially be revised, and our historian has already been discussing the Ming culture artwork as well as the Rocket Cart (as Korean fans have provided some feedback on the differences between rocket carts used by Joseon and Ming) with our artists, so both may be updated.
And as far as I hear, we will acknowledge the treasure ship in the game, but that's all I can say for now.

name one of my Naginata Samurai (if we can name units) "Jin Sakai, the Ghost of Tsushima."
Individual units can be renamed once they've gained at least one level of experience.

Personally I feel kinda bad for the art team that they have to revise their work whenever these things happen, but at the end of the day these things have to happen.

I would like to see a Q&A live stream with a member of the art team though.

I would like that also.

But you know what I would love more? A Humankind based cards game with those illustrations!

Or screen-savers, wallpapers, coasters, T-shirts, mouse pads . . .
