I seem to over-analyse things a lot, and my meals contain a lot of white rice (one of the things a hypoglycemic should avoid).

Hypoglycemia is blood-sugar imballance which affects thinking. When the brain doesn't get enough sugar, the body produces excess adrenalin to compensate, which causes sufferers to over-think concerns and anxieties.

I have been over-thinking a lot recently, imagining things to be worse than they are, and I get very worked up about it.

It occurs to me that I feel much more relaxed after downing a tray of Terry's All Gold. Doing this is something a hypoglycemic isn't supposed to, but it would result in higher blood sugar levels, and it happens to make me feel great - I calm down within minutes!

What do you make of that? :)

I don't have a doctor so cannot get tested right now

I do strongly recomend that you see a doctor about that.

I cannot. The stupid NHS doesn't allow for people in my situation.

I live in one post/zip-code area, and work 9am - 6pm in a different area. The doctors are all closed outside office hours and you're only allowed to register with a doctor in your residential area :crazyeye:

I tried an NHS walk-in centre (open to all) but they are just nurses and they cannot refer me to a doctor.

The only thing left is a hospital emergency ward

I guess you are all right, If you had a bad hipoglycemia, you would have lost your conciuosness, I guess. Anyway, you can ask for a day off (some hours off) and make an appointment to see the doctor and ask for some blood analysis.

Well, this might explain why I'm so paranoid and over analitical of the most simple of solutions.

Stormbind. If you eat a starchy meal, with few additives (white rice, white bread, potatoes, sweets, etc.) - do you get dizzy or have trouble reading 20-30 minutes later?

That would be a good sign you're hypoglycemic.

If you're hypoglycemic, don't aggravate it. It's the worst thing you could do for your long-term health.

If you suspect that you are hypoglycemic as it relates to diabetes, you had better see a Doctor. No excuses, no BS. See a doctor ASAP. If you simply find yourself with a low blood sugar from time to time due to lack of eating and overworking, then that should not be a problem.

At very least, always keep a sugar-packed candy bar or something with you. If you start feeling wierd, eat it.

Both my sister and I are mildly hypoglycemic. I can control it very well with diet, if I eat something very starchy I make sure I have something sugary with it. A handful of M&Ms is all I need. I don't recommend carrying sugar packets, since if they get wet they'll make a mess, and pure sugar hitting an empty stomach can make you sick. Hard candy is good.

The mind affects the body very much. If you do something which helps you relax (even if it involves ingesting something "bad") it will help regulate your hormones/blood sugar/etc.

Just find positive and healthy habits which you enjoy also.

Wheatgrass is supposed to be very good for hypoglycemia and blood sugar levels. I find taking it to be a good habit. You can grow it for about 20 cents a batch, just chew it up and spit the pulp, very good for your teeth and gums too. :)
