It is still a huge amount of people to be intergrated in such a short amount of time and I'm just wondering if USA can do it. I fear a half-Mexican USA California, Arizona, New Mexico maybe even parts of Texas. Remember USA took that land in a war of agression and Mexico doesn't forget. I am half white and half mexican, take it from me. The difference between mexicans and white folks are the music they play at parties and the food they eat at them. That's about it.
Now as far as "the two spanish television channels on cable plans with over 60 channels makes them stay mexican!" argument - over 96% of first generation Latinos speak English when speaking to their Latin friends.
Yes 80% of them also speak spanish, but nearly all prefer English.
Here is how it almost always happens to children of all immigrants in the U.S., legal and illegal - Your parents speak to you in their language and teach you English as well, by kindergarten you prefer your language though. By 1st grade you only speak to your parents in English, even when they speak in their language, because English is "cooler".
Sure by high school they learn to be more respectful and respond back in the language they are spoken to in, but they prefer English.
Also look at second generation Latin Americans (As in Grandparents were immigrants from Latin America) only 5% even speak Spanish.
So don't bring any of that "they will nevaaar be americannsss" bull here. we can start a statistical battle on this if you want, but I assure you, you will lose.

So I am guessing you have been to suburban parts of California where a third of the residents are home owning, college educated, middle class mexicans who are secretly planning a revolution for his holiness the Pope then?
