I am done with Civ IV... :-(

I bet I've more words/post average than the vast majority of posters here.

Why so defensive? We all know who you are. You are to civ what Beyonce is to music.

I'll be happy to, especially after that thread with the wearing or not wearing of pants.

I have a webcam and usually no pants cause YOU DON'T NEED PANTS FOR A VICTORY DANCE. But I am not worrying cause my webcam is off which I can see by small green light on it. Green is off, right?

By the way, most fortune cookies I get lately are not "fortune" cookies at all. They give a statement or a piece of advice instead of an actual fortune. Advice cookies FTL.

So more like: If you get stained in the restaurant ask for some sparkling water to clean the stain.
Or more like: Don't sit on cold concrete, your bladder could get cold.

Otherwise, I shall accept TMIT "demand commentaries" and let your ----s drop.

That's harsh. Really harsh.

Hey, I am not the one singing Destiny's Child in my vids...

Moderator Action: Ok, can we discuss the OP or atleast something relevant for Civ IV and not post lengths or the other even more off-topic stuff that litter this and the previous page ? We have OT for that kind of stuff ...

It's really not my intention to start more off-topic, so to end this:

@ Shakabrade: I've seen the preview for that movie. I think I seldomly laughed so hard about how crappy an idea can be :D .

@ Tachywaxon: You're not the first who thinks and whishes that, but Anatomy tells long, uhm, I mean different story :D .

Regarding Destinies child and Beyonce: I usually don't listen to her Music, but I know that she's one of the best live-singers there are. Being able to perform live as well as on the record is an ability that only the fewest musicians own today, that's why I respect her.

@ TMIT: tl;dr ;) ;) :D

@ Bucephalus: See above, Beyonce may be anything, but not talentless, she's one of the most talented artists there are, which one has to admit even if not liking her, because it's simply true.

@ Pangea: Why do you have singing monkey as a new Avatar?

----------------

And to the op again: I've already made a suggestion, waiting for his answer :) . If he searches for MP, MMORPGs are the best he can get.

I have a great singer as my avatar because it's my favourite band. Have used him on many sites, so put him in here as well. It amuses me greatly to see a person describe Beyonce as a great talent, but I'll just leave it at that. Don't think she sings through a computer, though, so that's something I guess. Good standards for her genre I suppose.

Try Play By Email. It's a different way to play multiplayer where you wont have to worry about sync error.

Yes I am playing right now an e-mail game from World War 2 with 4 players... and has conglomerate the countries on map by teams leaded by humans to prevent AI's on game ruining the game with their ineffective moves... But it takes a little too much playing by email. But 1 turn every 3 or 4 days until the others play their turn and send it again back to me... I prefer playing with the synk errors that at least I can play 5 turns until the next synk error.

I will love competitive AI's to play against with... or at least a game that is able to play online without any synk error... or at least 1 or 2 on the whole game that's ok, but one synk error every 5 turns, and sometimes every EACH turn??? NAH that's not right.
And there's nothing that Civ V can provide either to skip IV and start playing V... Civ V it's just not good enough yet to stand it the issues that I tolerate from Civ IV.

There are a lot of people who play IV with 0 sync issues. If you're getting them, there is a reason, be it different versions, mods, etc. Try to find that reason.

The synk errors are less and even none if I play small maps with 5 or 6 civs... But I'm not into that kind of map and number of players. I like maps really huge, with 25 civs. My mod SUPREMACY has a Gigantic map that is 1 5/6 bigger than Huge's standard size, on which 25 civs has an average of 10 to 12 cities each one... sometimes one of the civs doesn't get too developed and just expand up to 5 cities, and the other ones aside increase theirs up to 15 or 25 cities.
When I attempt this kind of massive game at multiplayer with my friends, the synk errors come up every few turns after the game gets developed and heavy. But this erros comes playing Huge with 18 civs that is the maximun standard games brings, so the main problem is that online gaming can't process huge games that takes too much processing, there's no much problems playing games with normal sized maps and less than 10 civs, but I don't enjoy too much that maps, too easy to conquere a tiny map.

Gigantic has to do with it...clearly. Some people can't even play a game on a typical large map.
Let's see if TMIT has a solution for this.

If I had a solution to Firaxis' sloppy coding I'd have implemented it long ago rather than putting up with units moving against my will at the start of the turn and human auto workers suiciding to the point where you can't use a "feature" the game provides. At least karadoc did that in his mod, I'm still hoping it becomes more standard...though even he can't do too much to fix the mammoth problems with the game's coding in general :p. Civ is DESIGNED, inappropriately, to be slow. 3d shooter engine with top of the line graphics? THAT runs fine. Turn based strategy game? Oh no, we can't allow you to move 2 different stacks inside of 2 seconds on THAT. Derp.

The game wasn't even designed well for 18 civs, so I can imagine what more does to it. My GUESS is that someone's machine or internet connection isn't keeping up with all the unnecessary data, calculations, and inane nonsense the game sends back and forth over the internet with so many people playing. My solution to that is to have a better-designed game engine. Unfortunately, that is quite the literal opposite of the Firaxis solution, and as evidence I submit civilization V.

Believe me, if I could fix it I would have by now.

Ignore.....

Its sad when you try to tell them that:
A:the game could be have been designed better
B:This 18 civ cap thing is getting old(If we stuck to only 4 civs in every version of CIV how good would CIV4 have been?its time to advance!)
or C.That DLC is a rip off/should always be in the base game/EXP...

On CIV5 forums they then tell you that you are "trolling" and that you should stop and that CIV is not for me...lol...hell the only trolling I'm doing is for booty(RL)...I'll leave the trolling to the twelve year olds who play CIV5....

I'm not quiting CIv4 till something better is offered....

Amen! And it seems right now like we still have to be content with it for quite a long time. The direction the video games industry is heading is not in our favour...

Could not agree more with this. Practically the whole industry are machine gunning themselves in the feet with all the focus on DLC rips offs, DRM surveillance and treating customers as if they're criminals.

Have not bought a new game for quite some time (which does NOT indicate piracy btw) and it looks like it won't be changing for quite a while either. Am more than pleased with old games, such as Civ 4, but it would be nice if developers still managed to make good games.

Sigh.

Ain't just the video games! The OSes are all being dumbed down so the same minimalistic junk that is available on the smart phones can be pushed for real computers.

Play K-mod. The late game lag on computers that should be able to handle the crap easily is just unacceptable, and the base game has too many other random annoyances that I don't want to bother with it anymore.

Well, actually no, I'm just playing Diablo 3 atm which has its own set of huge problems but even that game runs smoother than Civ 4.
