I am looking for a film but do not remember its name...I tried to google for it but had no success up to now.
It is some 80s horror movie which is about someone standing in the window of his room as if he is a statue, but things are bleaker than that. The film starts with a flashback of that person as an elementary schooler, when his father tested himself and his sister in math. The father would ask the sister to name the first ten numbers or something of that kind, and then ask the boy to name in reverse order something like the first 30 prime numbers :rotfl:

Naturally things did not develop that well..

Is it Edward Scissor Hands?

I find in 9 out of 10 questions about the movies the answer is Edward Scissor Hands.

In their benign mode, gremlins are just guinea pigs, I think. With some kind of water allergy.

The benign one is the 'Maguai'. The rest just get hurled out of its back if water falls on it. Only they are actual Gremlins

Moreover they only assume their dangerous form if they are also given food to eat past midnight.

But it's always past midnight.

The biology of the Gremlins is tied to the cosmos insofar as actual (evident) calculations of any current time in the part of the planet they are in can be readily paired to the 24hour system we use :yup:

It goes without saying that this is coincidental. But the main focus is the time itself, so as to safeguard from the Gremlins murdering all human life. The theories on how their biology itself self-accounts for this 'human midnight in any given timezone of 'Merica' have not by now been given much funding in scholarly work.

I'd love to help you but you badmouthed Beetlejuice so now you're dead to me.

(Also I don't know the movie you're asking for)

Also the gremlins things are spelled "mogwai", like the band.

Yeah, but it's always past midnight, even right now. It's 12:13pm, which is past midnight. 2am is past midnight. 11pm is past midnight. Every time you can think of is "past midnight".

Technically correct. Colloquially 'past midnight' ends at dawn. Ask any vampire.

It's always past 9:52am. 12:13 pm is past 9:52am, 11 pm is past 9:52am every time you can think of is past 9:52am.

It's not a Monty Python film though, that's for sure..

And it went wherever i go.

Any other info?

Horror flick...sounds like it is setting up as the psycho killer sort...anything about the killings? Weapon used? Location?

Only ever watched 5 min of the movie, so the only things i know for a fact from it are:

-It is an 80s horror film
-It starts with some kids observing an immobile likeness of a human in the second floor window of a suburbian house. They move on to bet among themselves if it is a human standing still or a doll, and finally climb up there. Then the thing moves ;)
-Flashback to the early age of the protagonist in that room, with the incident with his father.

I think it may be a cool movie...

Can you narrow down which half of the 80's?

The Shining?

I don't see anything on the list, but I am not familiar with all the movies, and I didn't watch any of the clips. are you sure the 5 minutes you saw wasn't part of a Tales from the crypt or Twilight Zone episode?

No, it was a full movie ;)

It doesn't have to do with math in the actual plot after the flashback. I suppose it is far more likely they used that as an account of some trigger for the antagonist feeling wronged by the world.
