I had MLK day off school. I have not though about him until 7:35 PM

Did you think about MLK (until now)

And that was just because I looked at a calander.

So, how many people here who had the day off actually thought about MLK for more then like 3 seconds?

We did not have school off (sigh, guess that just goes to show what a NUTHOUSE this is), and I did think about him for more than a few seconds, yes. Quite sad, when you think about it.

I did think of him a little, a great activist...if only we had a few of him around to fight for our rights in this increasingly paranoid age.

I did not have school off today, although I ditched one of my classes because it was just too cold to walk there.

That may be because a great deal of the younger population grew up with the result of the changes he helped bring about, so it may not mean as much to them as older people. Younger people never had to live with the situation as it was. Usually, people don't realize how good they have it if they didn't live through how bad it was.

But, I guess the point is, you thought about him. The day off is meant to show the menaing he had and for people to remember it. I'd have guessed that schools would have taken the Friday before as a chance to go over what he has done and why you would be getting Monday off, but I guess not.

I thought of him because I had to attend an ACT-SO breakfast in his honor.

I thought of him only when I read about him in the newspaper. I personaly like many Americans simply consider it a day off.

Everyone born after 1968 living in the U.S.

This morning my mom said "do you know what today is?" I actually had to think for a few seconds before I remembered why we had school off. It was kind of embarrasing, but as it happens I am really preoccupied with other things today.

I didn't remember what holiday today was until I heard an excerpt from one of his speeches on the radio, got to hand it to him, he was a great public speaker.

I knew it was MLK day today but I didn't think about him much because I've already thought much about him and his achievements many times before. Great man :hatsoff: to him.

I thought of him on Saturday, when I was watching an amazingly crappy docudrama about him.

I also was reminded of some article I saw about how his ideas were becoming more radical and communistic before he died, and I was hoping I could find that again. (I saw it here.)

Perhaps that proves the point....?

King and the movement realized many successes including the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the ruling of the poll tax as unconstitutional, and the desegregation of schools which had ignored the decision reached in Brown v. Board of Education. In 1967
