I think I know why poeple hardly remeber him. Because he didn't help all peoples of America, he only helped the negroes and their civil rights. At the risk of sounding racist: What did MLK do for me as a white man? I was already free as all whites in this coutry. The purpose of making this day an off day is so that the government doesn't hear the negroes(its not a racist word) biching about their heroes. Which they do, remebmer that time where all the black people went on the street and protested so they could have the street renamed to MLK street? Thats what the government is trying to prevent: another protest.
