I had MLK day off school. I have not though about him until 7:35 PM

Ok I understand and I acctually knew all those. Thought that was something I didn't know.
I think I know why poeple hardly remeber him. Because he didn't help all peoples of America, he only helped the negroes and their civil rights. At the risk of sounding racist: What did MLK do for me as a white man? I was already free as all whites in this coutry. The purpose of making this day an off day is so that the government doesn't hear the negroes(its not a racist word) biching about their heroes. Which they do, remebmer that time where all the black people went on the street and protested so they could have the street renamed to MLK street? Thats what the government is trying to prevent: another protest.

Yaeh, I had my first MLK day off of my entire life today!! (We dont celebrate it in Canada) (For those who still dont know I study in Oregon this term)
But I dont feel very concern, this is more of an american history thing, even though he was a great man, I didn't think about him before I read this post...
I enjoyed the day off though, went hiking and learned to pole vault!!!

I'm not American, but I still know enough about him to know that he didn't only help the black community. He was an example of wisdom, intelligence, charisma and leadership. (would have made a good D&D wizard ) He was also a good example of how non-violent protests can bring great results in the hand of a great leader.

I'm sure he has been a source of inspiration to many individuals, including me. My highschool english teacher (white guy) was a big fan and thought us about the strencht of words through MLK's achievments.

Didn't have MLK Day off (well, I did, but it wasn't a company holiday, it was a personal one) and I thought about him as I generally think about all significant holidays. In this specific case, I also thought about him because I read an article about how a MLK Day public gathering turned into a minor riot (in Phoenix, I think) due to some unruly youths.

I didn't have the day off from school and I did not think about him. When your school distric has a grand total of 2 black students it's not deemed important enough to miss school over. As for why I didn't think about him well it would be silly to try and remember someone that died long before I was born.

Nope. It's just hard to really think about it...sure, I could talk about it, but I can't experience it or feel it. For instance, I miss a heck of a lot of humor in Dr. Strangelove because it relies on all the fear and drama of Cold War events - drills, stocking up on food, the Cuban Missile Crisis, etc. - that I just never experienced.

I was going to go to a rememberance march the Thursday prior, but stayed home as I was on anti-biotics so it didn't seem prudent. Watched a history show about him on the day of instead; generally watch one every year.
