I hate Shadow units. No mithril what do i do?

to the op - hire a bunch of 2 str warriors, or get some nature mana and level up a couple mages to summon tigers. both will keep shadows from attacking your mages, since they go for the weakest unit in the stack.

skeletons and imps work wonders there too, if you are the evil type

The best way to deal with Shadows is generally shitloads of troops; Shadows aren't good enough to take them all out. Of course, if you KNOW your enemy has Shadows, and you've get a way of seeing through their hidden nature, why leave things to chance?

Soo... I guess if we really wanted to get rid of Shadows - just send QES after them and they'll go away confused?

Jk, Funny thread. Funny stories. I'll just tell myself that you made all those stories up yourself, and just as you start to feel proud of yourself - I'll mention to you that there are some empty pages on the Wiki for FFH and that if they were filled with creatively written stories - that might further fuel the interest in this wonderful mod.

I saturated the forum with quotes and passages once already - I'm uncertain A) of what still needs to be done, B) if Kael would have a brain anyuerism at another influx of Qesitivity* and C) the creative juices cant be rushed, and may in fact be stopped all together.

EDIT: On Shadows - Another useful measure to use is those towers that dot the landscape everywhere. Grab a unit or two that CAN see shadows which in your particular case means an caster whom summons sand lions, and plant them on those spots permanently. Then, becuase you're smart or cool, you can use your mages with extended range fireballs (or equivilantly violent spell) to bomb the bejeus out of any shadow you see. Instant reaction for any incursion into your territory - also, a damaged shadow (if it didnt die) is less threatening.

EDIT2: On offense, use the "sight" promotion on the units that can see shadows - the better the radius, the less of them you need.

EDIT3: Also, as playing the hippus, your a massive merc force. Make tons of money, and build/buy mercenaries. For a war I had I purchased 30 mercs in about 2 turns. The next turn I purchased about another 45. Sheer numbers WORK. It cost me only money - and they threw their best units - Like shadows - at them in droves, you may lose a few, but you'll squash those whom dared to fight you.

Invisibility is one of the things that will be covered in "Shadow" so we really aren't messing with it right now. If there was some simple thing that would make things better Im open to them, but we already have a good idea what has to be done to get it all working how we want it, its just not on the plate yet.

Personally, I like Shadows the way they are. It's nice to have a unit that's effective at taking out opponents' Archmages/Summoners. And although they're annoying to defend against, it's hardly impossible.

Some good ideas in this thread here. Thanks.

Have any of you played a game during which the AI spawned Shadow barbs?

Now that is a challenge as you can get 2-3 thrown at you every few turns. If you don't have a way of spotting and killing the barb Shadows you will quickly lose your weaker units. Strong units are toast too as typically a barb Lizard Druid for example will hit the unit making it weak and easy for 1-2 Shadows to kill.

The AI had this maneuver at its disposal, but fortunately didn't use it very often or heroes and strong Tier IV units would go quickly.
