So your grandparents still live in Poland, and the Polish army came looking for you years after you and your parents and siblings left? Do you still have Polish citizenship? I assume you became a Canadian citizen a long while back...

I hold dual citizenship and bureaucracy in Poland was during communist and post-communist years incredibly complex and.. messy. So even though I was technically exempt from service (due to attending university in another country), they didn't have this on record. Even though they did. They're a bunch of idiots, is the real answer.
