I was taking my evening stroll when I ran into one of the people from my school. We call him "Big (Insert his name" because he is a big muscly guy. So he was with like 3 or 4 of his friends. And he called my name I was like "Hey whats up?" and came up to me, put his hand on my shoulder and push me against a fence. And his friends like sourrounded me, and he's like "Hey I really need some money, do you have any money?"

And I was like "No I don't have any money"

And he's like "Come on man I know you do, let me see your wallet" His friends were standing around trying to look intimidating. I told him I didn't have my wallet with me, and I was kinda grinning because I found the situation pretty amusing for wahtevr reason.

One of his friends are like "Come on man leave him"

And I told him he could check my pockets if he wanted to because I didn't have any money, So he pushed me away and walked off with his friends. Anyway I relaized later that it almost seemed like he was trying to mug me if I had money would he have taken it by force? Seemed to me he was just trying to impress his friends. I mean he does go to my school and I know him pretty well.

So was this an attempted mugging or not? In either case it was pretty funny

If he wanted to mug you, he would've. He wanted money, and he used his threats to try and get it. Don't let that fool intimidate you.

general moronic bully behaviour trying to impress his mates it seems

Well I didn't have money in the first place so a lot of good that would have done him, and is it really a good idea to mug someone if front of a government compound complete with security guards? At the time he cornered me I was in front of the Indian Space Research Organazation building with security guards not too far away,

Dragging you off somewhere else... :mischief:

Well, no, it wasn't pretty funny if it was an attempted mugging.

It may be your reaction to the situation defused it somewhat,
so it may be they simply believed you when you said you had no money.

So, it would be interesting to know what they would have done if you had some money, and perhaps even less funny.

And now, the ape will shortly believe if he tries again there will be no repercussions.

After all, sounds like you're not going to make any.

And you might have money next time.

So either report it, or don't go anywhere near them next time, or call him in public with witnesses - perhaps in a jokey way, if you must - on his behavior.
Make it less likely to happen again, or if it does it will at least have more resonance.

Or just trust that it was 'funny'.

And you might have money next time.

No I never have money...its pretty sad actually.

After all, sounds like you're not going to make any

Well what do u expect me to do anyway?

Report to who? And report what exactly? That he asked for money in an intimidating way and when I said he didn't have any he left?

Seems to me if you'd had money, he would've taken it. That's an attempted mugging. His ultimate goal was probably more to exert power than get money, but that's not the point.

I don't know you, so I have no expectations.
The fact that you posted here implies you're not sure what weight to put upon it.
As I implied before, if you're sure it was just a joke, then just forget it.

I suggest you discuss it with someone local who knows him well enough to verify your assumption that it was a joke. Then progress it, or forget it, from there.

At least then someone else knows about it, and can share the joke?

Dude he tried to mug you. Had you had money he would have taken it. If you resist he would have used force. That is a mugging. He just picked a broke target.

Just a random question which I've been meaning to ask you, silver: Do you speak in English in your school, or is the common language Hindi? Not the official school language, but the language in which people speak informally.

I can always ask his girlfriend....heh but I will see...personally I don't thnk he was entirely serious he may have been showing off for his friends. I mean he is the gang leaderish type of guy, but he normally restricts his activities to beating up on people from TISB (another school). And he's never shown ny hostility toward me, I mean the day before we were talking about extacy and viagra and he was telling my about his trips...hm...regardless I will see what I need to do about it...

English at my school, offically and unoffically. However Korean and Hindi are the next languages that are spoken most predominantly unoffically. But I don't know Hindi. Well I know some Hindi "Tere ma ki chooth" did I spell that right? But my knowledge of Hindi is pretty much restrained to insults.

OK, so basically it's not really an "Indian" school, it's just a school for people who want to send their kids to school in India without exposing them to the real India.

As for your Hindi comment, here are some songs you (and your friends) might like:

Gaand Mein Danda. Give it to a Hindi-speaking friend, and ask him what it means. Here is where I got it - it has three other songs by the same band. "Sabka Katega" and "XL ki kudiyan" are great. Your friends will love them (I'm not joking, I mean this seriously).

Then there's the even better song, Sutta na Mila. This is a huge hit across college campuses in India.

If they haven't heard them before, you'll be very well loved for finding these songs - they're totally rebellious and use cursing liberally (In Sutta Na Mila, it's practically the background), which is almost unheard-of in Hindi songs, so it may sound "cool" to your friends, given their age.

NOTE: All these songs are legally available for free download, and were released on the internet by the artists themselves.

NOTE 2: If you're from India, or with anyone who can understand Hindi, the above songs have explicit lyrics in Hindi. As, however, English songs with explicit lyrics have been allowed to be discussed freely on this forum, I am posting this here (I also know that I'm probably the only Hindi speaker here, so it doesn't matter anyway). If, however, some mod has some issue, then I'll send this in a PM to those interested instead of a post.

On the page I linked to where I got "Gaand Mein Danda", you will find "Sabka Katega" and "XL ki kudiyan". Both of them are absolutely hilarious - I was ROTFLMAO when I first heard them. So will any speaker of Hindi.

"Sabka Katega" can be loosely translated to "Everyone's will get cut". It sounds awful in English, but trust me, it's a fantastic Hindi song. Their poetry is superb - they have played on that allusion beautifully.

"XL ki kudiyan" (loosely) translates to "The kudiyan of XL". Here, kudiyan means girls (though it has a connotation of mischief), and XL refers to a division or a section, usually in a highschool or college. I loved this song.

These are great "HS/College" songs, and if you are the first to bring these to your friends' attention, they will love you for it.

IS HIS NAME ED?!??! WAS IT BIG ED!?!?!!?

Yeah dude, that sounds alot like when I did get mugged, except they tried to use force

Of course, the idgits did this on a stairwell, which works to MY advantage.

When two of them had a bone snapped (one leg, another arm) the other two guys thought better of it

learn some self-defense, the worlds messed up sometimes

I would have bit his nose off, spat it in his mate's faces...And then ran off screaming.

He wouldn't try that mugger stunt again, let me tell you!

:)
