As soon as we stop considering the foetus as a thing, then yes, the cells are alive. Is the foetus, as a whole, a living entity? No. It is not a living human. It is a mass of individually alive cells.
DNA has nothing to do with whether something is alive or not. Many things contain DNA but are not alive.
Are you suggesting that all life deserves life, no matter the situation? What about bacterial diseases or the food you eat?

How long you've been with her? Do you know her parents well, what about yours, try to bring up the discussion w/o hinting that it is you. I don't know, tell them that one of your buddy got her girlfriend pregnant, hear what they have to say about the matter.
