If Aliens Arrived - Would You Try to Convince Them About God?

So ... tell me, Plexus, considering your comments on page one to be honest, how do you distinguish between yourself from an Al Qaeda member if not by birthplace (which leads to differences of religion)? The one word best suited to describe the mentality of a person not in a mental institite who would make the those statements is: imbecilic.

If you are truely interested in the truth and not just wanted to convince your peers of your adherence of a common fantasy, you would ask the aliens for proof instead of warbling around on a bigoted set of BS.

We probobly would have an interesting chemical structure

Then why land and reveal theirselves when they can just randomly pick out a bunch of people and kidnap them for research without being seen? Unless they're like space-conquistadors or something. Who knows, maybe iron would be a RARE element on their planet or something.

As I said, perhaps the aliens would merely offer to cure him of his mental illness! ;)

If you were religious, would you try and tell them that your god created them.

Since you claim he created the universe, he must have made them too, right?

What if these aliens were a atheistic scientific race, having long abandoned religion as a childish notion?

Would you still try to pursue your claim, even at the cost of making these aliens angry?

Hypothetical situation, I know.
But I want to see how dedicated some are to the god idea.

And thanks for taking part! :goodjob: [/B]

- Yes
- I'd still tell them
- Yes. But I'd tell them there are also atheists on the planet so they won't blow it up. ;)

We call it Faith.

Then I would consider it rather meaningless to tell them about Terran religion.
They came seeking to know about our culture. Since God is such a big part of our culture as a whole, not each person then it would hardly be meaningless. Anyway, who says they're right or even that they're telling the truth?

We certainly are, but not the most important.
What are you basing this statement on?

Would you?

What if the Aliens are a deeply mistical and religious race? (take Babylon V as reference...)

Then they wouldn't have the cranial capacity to travel hundreds of parsecs.

Wow, a suggestion that aliens would have brains in their stomachs! :p

It doesn't have anything to do with stomachs. He was implying that mystical or religious people are uneducated. That's laughable.

I was simply allowing for another possibility if he wasn't being rude himself.

The obvious size of the universe.

Oh wait!
We invented a god, so we may as well invent the idea we rule that universe too!

Religionists are the ones who messed up the world with ideas about god, so you answer first.

Oh yeah the world is real messed up from such an idea that spawned out of basically every culture.

Because I believe that God created the universe and everything in in, I would tell them about God. However, if their culture had absolutely no religion or belief in higher powers, then it would seem that God had not bothered to pursue contact with them- but God wants to redeem everyone who is separated from Him (atheistic aliens would obviously fall into that category), so the only conlusion would be that the aliens had no souls, but were only highly advanced animals. In other words- ever heard of a canine Messiah? I think not.

it seems that wherever CurtSibling is found, there also are Quasar1011 and puglover. Almost like a Frodo-and-Sam vs Sauron, given Curt's atheistic nature. Hey guys, I'm with you all the way ;)

It's more like Rommel versus the marx brothers. :D

So you deny the crusades, burning times, inquisition, destroying the Great Library, the wars of Islam, even the current conflicts in the Middle East are not 'messed up'...

If so, you have a long way to travel.

Have you guys seen the South Park episode where the missionaries who feed crosses to starving Ethiopians seek to convert outer space? :)
