If Aliens Arrived - Would You Try to Convince Them About God?

So, Plexus:
What if the aliens said that an ancient race had engineered the universe?

Would you regard a race like that as the god you seek?

Well, the Bible would never tell me to saw my arm off, if it did, I would have never accepted Christianity, because that is not the God I know.

And you know this entity?

How can you know?

Are you sure it is not just a mental illness?

I realize I am not the center of the universe, that would be God.

Care to elaborate something other than fantastic claims?

Anyway, I prefer to stay on topic.

Plexus has gave me reason to believe he would be atomised by aliens.

Anyone else wish to make a opinion?

Hmm... that is quite the hypothetical conundrum. Well, let's say that Aliens did create the universe, love humanity, send an emisarry named Jesus, among other prerequisites, then yes, I figure that would be the God I seek. However, that will never happen.

I do not care to be dismissed in such a fashion. Anyway, I'm going to sleep, it is awfuly early.

What has jesus got to do with it?
He was merely an ancient cult leader/revolutionary.

Can your mind handle the idea that we humans are probably not very important in the universal scale?

Do you believe the Earth revolves around the sun?

What would you do if aliens told you that you have a mental illness...And offered to cure it?

You have been a star performer!

oops sorry Plexus, I meant Thadlerian...soz!
Then I would consider it rather meaningless to tell them about Terran religion.

That's a good answer.

It's all a matter or perspective.

After being told about this god idea, the Aliens could turn round and say, 'Primitive culture myth. So what?'....

What if we are important, Curt?

Yes, I do believe that the Earth is spherical and revolves around the Sun. Thanks so much for regarding me as a throwback to the 14th century, I surely appreciate that.

I assure you, I am right in the head, I know how hard it is for you to comprehend that someone with even a bit of intelligence can believe in a deity.

Anyways, I'll pick this up in 8-12 hours. Night, Curt.

Later I would change my mind, and try to find out what these guys are actually doing here, and how plausible their explanation really is. Maybe that in fact is their religion?

We certainly are, but not the most important.

Of course I don't regard you as a throwback. :D

Someone has had a raw nerve twinged! ;)

Of course, these hypothetical aliens could just as easily say:

"Bow down before G'r'Kak, our mighty and bellicose God! Or we will become the instruments of his wrath and fall upon you like the Warp Beasts fell upon the T'Slithoroms, and great shall be the slaying!"

I just hope to God they aren't religious.

There would be delicious irony in the fundies being eradicated by space-fundies!

They'd probably say, "By our Jove, we know that Guy! Would you like His number?" :D

The aliens would probably act the way Europeans did when confronted with quaint native beliefs during the Age of Exploration: nod politely as they hand out the free cholera infected blankets.

Here is a question to ponder.

If an envoy or scout ship of an Alien race arrived on Earth today, seeking to know about our culture and nature of our race;

Hypothetical situation, I know.
But I want to see how dedicated some are to the god idea.

You say it is hypothetical. But I believe something like this will happen someday.

I believe that this will occur shortly after the Rapture. Satan will need a way to explain the disappearance of God's believers, and this could be how he does so. It could be that these aliens will claim to bestow great powers on the new leader of the Earth.
I do not believe these aliens will be from the physical universe, but from the spiritual universe. They will be demons, seeking to mislead mankind. The Bible speaks of a 'great delusion' in the last days, and a demonically-staged UFO landing at the White House would fit that bill pretty well.

In any event, aliens 'seeking to know about our culture and nature of our race' most likely would have already been monitoring our transmissions, a la Contact.

Personally, I wouldn't try to convince the 'aliens' of anything.

I really doubt that Aliens that would land on planet Earth and reveal themselves to theese backward humans would think there is anything usefull they would take from us. I mean, they have space travel, and have managed to span the Universe (since they probably come from very far away). What could we possibly teach them?
