And besides, you know insurgents can't function without base support amonst the populace, who shelter them and supply them with recruits and so forth.

Well then in the next election they should vote in people who better represent their views. Its a democracy/republic, they can do that.

There is democracy in Iraq? They are listed at the very bottom (112) of the hybrid regimes. Even Kyrgystan, Haiti, Venezuela and Gambia have more democracy than Iraq.

And guess who are number 113 on that list? You guessed right: Pakistan and Jordan is almost as democratic as Iraq, that's pretty cool, considered they aren't democracies.
