The 'funny' thing is that Bill3000 cites the very same wiki article I cited where it differenciates between ad hominem arguments ( I call them attacks, it is more descriptive) and ad hominem fallacies, and it does so at the beginning of the article, even before the part Bill3000 quotes.
Yes, but unless it is a fallacy, what is the point in bringing it up? The major point of the criticism of an ad hominem attack is when it is a logical fallacy. If it isn't a logical fallacy, there is no point in bringing it up. The reason why the idea of an ad hominem fallacy is brought up is to show a weakness in the argument. In the cases in which it is valid, (For example, cases around the providers of evidence of the existance or lack of global warming) argue against the ad hominem argument by providing arguments for the credibility of the source - don't simply call it an "ad hominem attack" and leave it at that. Besides, as others point out, all it does is just make you look really annoying.

Interesting thread. Perhaps it should be retitled 'Global warming: America dosn't give a crap'
Exxon Mobil Corporation is a "major donor" to CEI, with over $1.6 million in contributions between 1998 and 2005. In 2004 the company gave CEI $180,000 that was earmarked for "global climate change and global climate change outreach." CEI also gets funding from other oil companies through the American Petroleum Institute.
