In the neighborhood where I lived many years ago, it would be 10-15 minutes. I was more mobile then.
Now? The closest manageable place is a convenience store that I don't dare try because it would require crossing a very busy street at a point not at the intersection (because there's no sidewalk on this side that leads to the intersection) and hope I don't get run over. And then it's a trip over an uneven sidewalk, into a gravel parking lot, and having to leave my walker outside because the door isn't set up for disabled customers. Chances are, the walker would be stolen.
So I don't walk to buy groceries anymore. The closest accessible place... it's just too far. The problem is that so many cities here are built on the assumption that everyone drives, or at least has access to the bus. I can't even access the nearest regular bus stop due to the lack of sidewalks and safe way of crossing the street.
Lack of sidewalks is odd for me.
Bit different over here. Car helps but if you have to shanks pony it.

We have Lidl's here now ..lol...it is a strange storeSame..all of Munich feels covered by Lidl, Aldi, Edeka and Rewe.
(i usually prefer Edeka and don't like Lidl in particular)
