IGN is playing Rising Tide with devs today at 1pm PT

Ha. You beat me to it.

Apparently they are going to have an interview with the devs in a minute.

tooltip the IGN live stream going on right now:

Drone Cage (unlocked at Autonomous Systems)
Cost 265
Move 2
Strength 22
Required 1 firaxite
Requires level 3 supremacy AND level 3 purity
Supremacy-Purity Hybrid unit
An elite soldier-medic assisted by multipurpose servant drones that autonomously heal adjacent wounded units each turn. Versatile support unit

So many peasants in the chat. "Who plays Strategy Games these days?!", "Turn Based Games are boring." Pfah.

Since I don't have a twitter account, could someone ask if the old affinity units will get special abilities like the new hybrid ones?

He just said that auto-workers [and thus the AI controlled faction, I hope] were fixed and won't spam terrascapes anymore.

He just said that the Virtues have been kept the same to maintain the original games balance. Hehe. Hehehe.

I think, that the UI for the potential agreements with other civs looks really messy... Imagine playing with 11 civs, so you can browse through 55 agreements. Now try choosing one... Urgh.

Wow, 3 and 3? That's a lot earlier than I thought it would be! Cool :)

:twitch:

Got no words for that, but then, Civ5 also still has the tradition tree. As with any Civ patch or expansion, it's one of these two-steps-forward-one-step-back things.

Not happy about it, but I feel like this is one of the "fixable" things through mods. Far from ideal, but it's easier to mod some virtue trees than to provide new units, new systems and so on.

Welp, at least there are mods.

The Virtue trees have far too many next to useless filler virtues, which skews available options.

I don't really understand their balance philosophy with them.

Unfortunately I'm having a strange bug trying to use Machiavelli's perks grant buildings tool in a virtue mod where, somehow, everything but that component seems to work in the same XML file.

Also, recent showing of upgrade screen verified that Tier 4 hybrid comes at a balance, with same cost as tier 3 (IE Harmony 6 gets brawler, then Harmony 6 Supremacy 6 gets Fury). So if you keep to balanced level up, you'll hit tier 3 and 4 at the same time. Again, hybrid may come quicker than expected.
