About how many cities does Jin capture from Song, or not at all?
I am finishing a new version with both the Mongols and Venice, without removing any civs. I will try to make there be more fighting in the Middle East and Europe.
Does anyone get to the new world?
As far as I know Jing do not capture any Song city.
It is usually Song vs everybody (Xin Xiang, Khmers, Japan).
In my games it happened once that both the English and the Vikings (Norman Italy) conquered barbarians city north of Korea.
In my four games, in 1650 AD, nobody has reached the New World, everyone is simply very focused in the Old one.
Bizantines vs Seljuks: the point of Jelen is a good one. Probably the lack of disparity of forces is what drives them towards an impasse.
Do not misunderstand me, they are at war, but cities rarely change hands.
It does more Bohemia against the Seljuks than the Bizantines, when they come down from Europe.
re: Mongols and Venice: great news. Two of my favorite civs. I'm definitely looking forward to play Genghis Khan or Doge Enrico Dandolo.
The Mongols horde can shake the east and be a factor even against the Seljuks (beside against the Songs, of course).
Venice strong economy and great fleet can revitalize the mediterranean colonizing the isles and also take away something from the uber powerful Holy Roman Empire (one of my favorites).
Even in my last game - as Bohemia - the leading countries were, in order: Bizantines, Song, Holy Roman, Seljuks, Fatimids, France. The Almoravids were right after but the new and improved "spanish" civs are a challenge now and manage to slow them down.
The weakest civs are now the Northmen in southern Italy (might be good to change Palermo as the capital if you want to boost them a little bit, if only because Naples doesnt grow beyond 4 even in a late game and risks to flip to the Holy Roman Empire, while Palermo does grow pretty well) and the Jing.
Jibrail isnt strong either, but keeps attacking like a psycho, like the Khmers, must be the aztecs tainted blood... ;-)
What else...mm....Hungary never founds or conquer any other city, but still manages to build a decent army and often ends up involved into fights against Bohemia, Poland or the Kiev Rus.
I have seen Poland and Hungary become vassals of the Bizantines, while Castille and Aragona tend to become vassals of The Holy Roman Empire.
Interesting: in my last game I have seen the Fatimids attacking the Seljuks.
When are you uploading the version with Venice and the Mongols, any approx eta?
