I'm Graduating!!!

I graduate on 6/9. I don't think my sanity is going to survive that long though.

Congratulations to the graduates. I will not be graduating until Fall 2007 with a B.B.A. in Finance.

What kind of plans do you all have for the life after?

Congrats to all who graduate. You have survived High School/College!

I still have 2 more years of High School. Next year, AP AB Calc, AP Bio, AP US History, along with the other required classes. Then AP Chem, AP Physics, Calc III (AP maybe?), AP Environmental Science.

In other words, 2 more years of doom.

Hold on, you sound like you're in the same grade as me. Assuming you have 12 years to do and are about to be done with 10.

How can you be in AP AB calculus already? I'm in H Algebra II and will be in H Pre-Cal next year but almost nobody is ahead enough to be in Calc AP. Are you ahead by a year or two or is that the standard where you live?

yes, after 4 years of them convincing me too come back for different reasons, i came back for rifle team 3rd year and a supposed company commander spot this year.

ahhhi thought you might have meant University of Texas

edit: Fetus, thats my birthday wOOt!

I hate you people who graduate from high school early. I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Graduation: June 22.

Yeah, that's not very cool.

I graduate high school on June 9... there's a tradition at my school of letting seniors finish their year about 2 weeks early. But I feel your pain. Really.

Interesting... you edited your post in the second between I read it and clicked the post a new reply button...

Man I thought my June 1 graduation was gonna be very late, guess not.

What??!! As a junior, I have to wait until the 15th of June or something.

For the record, I took AP Calc BC in Junior year, so it's definitely possible.

How though. Is that normal? Did you skip a year or something? I mean even if I wanted to I couldn't because I'm not that far. What did you take in 8th, 9th, and 10th grades for math.

For us:
8th: basic math or Algebra 1 for advanced students
9th: Algebra 1 or Geometry for Advanced students
10th: Geometry or Algebra II for advanced students
11th: alg II or pre-cal...
12th: not required, up to AP calculus AB or BC.

No, Im a senior, so it is still relatively late I think.

yeah, ive already been out for like a week

thats strange

At least around here, we have 2 semesters, each w/ 4 classes that are 90 minutes long, so you can take, theoretically, 2 maths per year, thus fitting more in. I stopped in 10th grade with regular Calculus, not to move on to AP Calc since I didn't think I'd perform well, but I can see now I would have done relatively well.

Well, for us, we have a system of Regular, Accelerated, and Advanced.

Regular is the normal year.
Accelerated is ahead by 1 year.
Advanced is ahead by 2 years.

Then it is broken further down into honors and regular.

In HS, there's also the "special" class, which they do things twice as slow. (2 years on Algebra I, Trig and Algebra II in 2 years, rather than 1, etc.)

For me:

7th: Algebra I
8th: Geometry
9th: Honors Algebra II Trig
10th: Math Analysis (got straight Cs in Honors Algebra II Trig  )
11th: AP Calc AB
12th: Calc III

Yeah, there's even someone in my BC Calc class who's a sophomore. That's kinda crazy IMO, though.

Given the expanded thread, I'd like to expand my initial congrats to Mr. Dictator to encompass all graduates regardless of level of education they are graduating from. Well done, folks!

In middle school, there was this one genius kid that went to the High school to take the math classes. He was 3 years ahead in math, after skipping a grade too!

He is now a Junior, dispite that his age dictates that he should be a Freshman.

Holy crap that dude/dudette must be friggin smart!!!!!!!!! Thats very rare around here, infact we'll probably only have one person at my school doing it. He's in 8th grade now, but he comes to our highschool to take Trig and pre-Calc. So yeah, he could be doing AP Calc AB as a freshman.
