OOC: TheWesley, it's best to start off with a medium/strong minor power. I started off as the PRC in The World Turned Upside Down (in this timeline a decaying power being eclipsed by Guangxi), an older NES run by EQ, and turned it into a regional economic and military power, even acquiring nuclear weapons. If I started with a major power, I would have most likely run it straight into the ground.

OOC: It would have been a nightmare if by some freak of nature I was playing the SUSA when I came first out of the gate in A Brave New World. I would have most assuredly destroyed it. New France and the Argentine Collectives Federation were essential for me to reach the level needed to play the SUSA. So no shame in playing those powers.

3. Having a major power is my only chance of actually surviving- I'd probably do much worse with a minor. I'm going to keep with the Ottomans until my posistion is (in game terms) untenable.

It won't matter either way; goofing up as a major power is just as bad as goofing up a minor power. It's just that the repercussions for crashing with a major power are larger.

I'm inclined to agree. Personally, I'm rather glad I'm not a world power. No doubt Bavaria will be up in flames soon, but at least no-one will really care.

I outnumber them greatly, and they don't have the defences of Malta to hand.

3. Actually you are more likely to die a horrible death as a major power considering you just randomly decided to invade Sicily. What were the aims of this invasion? Other than to piss of every single European nation and remove any chance of a relationship you had with them. If you were some small little place and you decided, on a whim, to invade Sicily, I'm pretty sure they would have just laughed and patted you on the head. So in conclusion.

Initially at least, Malta was to act as my naval base in the Meditterenean to reinforce my naval dominance, and the rest of Sicily would become a Protectorate for bonus E.P. It would have been easy to cut Sicily off from Naples had EQ not factored for Malta's fortifications.

The Dutch Republic maintains our neutrality in the Mediterranean affairs of last year. While the scourge of Islam has again proven itself dangerous to Europe, it doesn't make much sense to strike back and cause further turmoil in Europe. Accept reparations and move on. This goes double for the Catholic League(or at the very least Spain, since we dare not speak for other members), who seem to be using this as an excuse to craft a full military alliance. Remember the initial stated purposes of such a league, and you shall have no probably with us.

OOC: Also I think you guys should lay off The Wesley a bit. He wasn't the only major power to completely screw up last turn.

Well they were part of Russia at one point IIRC, so they could even be Eastern Orthodox.

So I'm guessing as far as the "state" religion goes, Lutheran, which is protestant.

Genoa supports neither side in the Ottoman conflict. While the Ottomans have unjustly invaded Malta, and failed, it would bring only trouble to the European mainland if there will be war in the Mediterranean. We feel that there are more important matters, such as trade and colonialism.

@Civver Thats a very good point But i think EQ is concerned because though other major powers have made huge blunders as well none are in danger of being torn apart by Europeans in a blood frenzy.
