Imperium Offtopicum: The Great Abyss [Sign-ups and OOC]

Just realized. The Zatryon homeworld was in process of being colonized when it was destroyed by a chain-supernova. What if the Dominion was colonizing a new series of systems when the chain-supernova destroyed much of their colonization fleets and resources? This could be part of the decline of the Dominion. Also, since there was a brief colonial war, I would assume there would be Chua squads on the surface when we rained mind-control on them and thus, artificially young and mentally enslaved Chua among us today.

The Chua think that younglings taste most delicious and so is okay with this idea.

We will most likely host a dinner party discussing how we feel about the issue of eating children at some point.

Eating your own children is a waste of resources, and a waste of the loyalty your children have developed towards you. Eating your rival's children is a situationally valid competitive tactic which is liable to provoke your rival into acting with great aggression towards you, which can be useful in certain circumstances where you possess a strong position but lack the means to capitalize on this advantage due to your rival's refusal to confront you in battle.

Is wasteful, yes, but is also delicious.

Is also good for solving issue of sibling rivalries.

Mondo Zax, one of greatest Chua inventors (bless him), arranged for all siblings to have "unfortunate accident," for example.

Young as in not wizened thousand year old rats. More like in their prime since, ya know, we're basically stem cells?

The Terrakol can't eat, and most Terrakol do not remember the times when they had children or whose children were whose.

Sadly, development of this has been stalled for a short while. My Internet is out for an unknown amount of time. The earliest I can expect is Thursday bu there's honestly no telling. For now I'll be on CFC and such exclusively from my phone if anyone has any concerns they want to bring to me.

You're such a tease

Step one is complete! The ruleset has been updated to my liking. All take a looksee through it if you please. The next step is developing update zero. I do plan on turn one events, which will be mostly random, but from then on out they will almost be entirely based on what you do as a civilization as the Internal Politics section implies.

Cool, so we all get access to colonizing ships straight away? Okay, well I edited in a new ship class to cover that niche, ported from Great Journeys, in my signup post.

Spoiler new rp :
Arkship: Arkships are a new class of ship that was developed for colonization of new planets. They are intended to transport upwards of 1 million people at a time to new worlds and all the resources that a fledgling colony would need. Arkships are Ellipsoid in shape, with a square landing platform at the bottom of the ship and a circular engine room at the back of the ship. Arkships are intended for initial settlement of a planet or for the construction of a new city on a planet with Personnel Freighter Class ships shuttling new colonists to the system. they are able to be disassembled for the purpose of granting new colonies building materials. Unlike a vast majority of Aiin ships, these ships are going to be piloted by Ascended there with their real bodies, as it is cheaper to use colonists to fly there rather than using remote controlled androids. Only one ship of this class has built, but when more inhabitable systems are found more will be constructed.

Hi,
I'm really interested in joining this and was wondering would I still be able to apply for this game?

Applications are always open. Thanks for your interest. :)

I'll try to get something up soon, it I currently don't have stable access to a computer or the internet for a few days

Well neither does he, so you're good. :p

Internet came back last Friday, and I've been working on Update 0 since Yesterday. However, don't think you're on any kind of time-table. I'll let you join in as soon as the application is complete if we are already starting, but I doubt that'll happen before Friday at the absolute earliest. At the latest, it might be towards the end of next week. Depends on my schedule.

But the first update is always the hardest part so I won't expect so much time to be spent on every update, to reassure you all.

Again, if there's anything I (read:we) can do to help you speed up the process just ask. I for one am ready with other "client species" to send up.

Progress on the update can be seen here. Feel free to give me input on it, and if you need clarification on anything you need only ask.

In reply to Terrance, if you want to make a client species application that'd be a great help.

Species Name: Uleomaiyo "Proletarian Paradise"

Species Description: Bipedal creatures with thick skin, noted for their "handy" prehensile tails and "head spike", giving them effectively 6 limbs. They are cold blooded and reproduce by eggs, and are often extremely communal. Although "Queendoms" used to exist, they were eradicated in the Great Uprising.

The Uleomaiyo are extremely slow evolving creatures, both biologically and technologically. Living on an harsh world already gave them strong defensive adaptations. After lingering in a psuedo-Industrial age for thousands of years, their toughened skin, protective instincts, and communal spirits became extrordinary. They rely more on instinct than on thought, and indeed, their "head hand" extends the spine on the outside of their brain case, limiting volume. The competitive advantage must have proven itself early, as many species had this and similar, less developed adaptations.

The Uleomaiyo are omnivores, although early thought led to a highly successful vegan movement. Their "headhands" allowed them to hang within easy reach of fruit and, later, close observation of crafts for the ease of reach of their other five limbs.

Some Uleomaiyo are born more clever than their companions, similar to tricky "monkeighs." It is thought that these "Egg heads" literally birthed various movements of Uleomaiyo history. To secure our relationship, we observe them carefully and replace Egg Heads with appropriate clones at birth.

Strengths: Relies on Adaptive Instinct, Extra Limbs allows flexibility, strong skin and adaptations to harsh environments, do not question authority
Weaknesses: Not Clever, Relatively low technological level (Tier 6), Stupid mistakes occur frequently (which many survive due to their toughness)
Unique: Cold Blooded, Easy to dominate psychically,

Homework Details/Species Hsitory: Their homeworld is a large, cold rocky planet pocketed with volcanoes and noxious gasses. "Algae" and magma-feeding Michen developed early, leading to a oxygenated environment with only few pockets of toxic gasses at deadly concentrations. Developing in this harsh environment made extremely tough organisms, and when we first met this land we quarantined them for fear of spreading one of their unkillable super microbes. This planet was extremely rich in natural resources due to volcanism and it's size, and the tough Uleomaiyo powered their centuries-long industrial age by digging deeper and deeper into their homeworld, closer and closer to the magma vents. Mostly unchanging, every once in a while concentrations of eggheads would great breakthroughs in technology or sociology, the most recent ones toppling the Queendoms and establishing communes across the surface. Although sparsedly populated compared to any metric, the industrialization (no where close to potential carrying capacity) has greatly multiplied Uleomaiyo numbers and caused strife before we eliminated the remaining egg heads and put them under our protection.

Technology: Tier 6, with very simple and efficient machines made of composite, semi-biological componemnts. Their bio-engineering technology was quite effective, using the innate toughness of their planet's native creatures to support their mechanization.

RELATIONSHIP

They Give: Colonists on harsh worlds (already 1 at start of NES), slave labor for other races, raw materials
They Get: Stability via removed Egg Heads, expansion of their race, "Respect"

They are used as initial colonists on scouted but harsh planets. Entirely expected to die off in large numbers, they are too dumb to be much effected, and the survivers breed well adapted offspring to remove natural resources. Much more effective than the world excavators once used, and our labs are working at radiation-resistant members for use on "glassed" planets.
They are also sent as slaves to various planets to maintain their homeworld's stable population.
Finally, their Egg Heads are removed from their society to maintain their stability, while their intellect are put to work in our well-monitered labs in hopes that, with a proper educaiton, they can improveour technology instead of theirs.

EDIT: You mean, make an application as in alternate application, or what I did here? Is this good? Should I make another one? etc.

I should say that if your civilization has any kind of insignia now's a good time to post it.

Chua emblem simple and to point. Chua best artists in universe. Chua accomplish by eating all art critics long time ago.

The Zatryons change their insignia depends on what locals find appealing or terrifying. The locals and clients have their own flags.

If you need a symbol for us, a green blob in form of a heart with a superimposed credit sign would do.
