Imperium Offtopicum: Valkyrie

Because at some point, when your ally from a global war less than two decades ago, being stabbed in the back is just awful. It is one thing when you're stabbed in the back in Risk, another to be stabbed in the back in an IOT trying to keep two feet into reality.

What was anti-British sentiment like in France in the 20s and 30s? I doubt it was so strong that they would declare war on the the UK for not helping enough. With that logic, France can declare war on the US for not showing up in Europe until 1917/8.

The fact is is that the America Now Party condemns the filthy Greeks for imperialism, the filthy Italians for using a defensive pact as a casus belli, and the French for proving that they are untrustworthy and if the United States does go to war with them, the War Coalition will reform and I swear on the Constitution there will be American, British and German flags flying over Italy, Athens, and Paris respectively by 1934.

I didn't say that public opinion in each country wouldn't change as a result of this war. I understand the situation but each action will have a consequences and thus the UK has a chance of being the victor in this war. The thing i want to point out is that do not like rage quits and that I urge you guys to fight, its not just this war, because in this IOT the victor doesn't have to be the militaristic one.

What's France going to do? Declare war on Germany and fight against the UK at the same time?

The Germans should be allowed to rearm against the socialists to the east and Traitor France to the west. Meanwhile, Greece will be put in its place and this thing called the "Greco-Serbian" Kingdom will be aborted via bayonet.

Germany may had a deal with a member of the coalition, lets say.

WHY?

WHY would Germany pass up a chance for revenge against the French?
WHY would they side against the Americans (if we join) and British to SIDE with the French?
WHY would they side with the French after just seeing France backstab an ally of near 20-30 years?

Because we promised them Austria i dont know.

Oooooh. Auuussstttrrriiiiaaaa.

I'm sure that's a much greater prize than Paris.

OOC: And Poland and ever damn central European State they want, + a small part of Hungary to re-create the Austro- Hungarian Empire yes.

You can't promise them Austria. Nobody can. Everybody can promise to forget about it if Germany invades it, though.

And Poland and ever damn central European State they want, + a small part of Hungary to re-create the Austro- Hungarian Empire yes.

Yes, because that's what the Germans want in 1930. Austria, not Paris.

Since you are making this comments quite loudly, I hope the Austrians and Hungarians are taking note they're trying to rile the Germans up against them to support their own imperialist schemes in Europe.

ooc: i edited my post. My post is now ooc.

The Kingdom of Iberia has declassified some documents relative to the Unification of 1924.

Analysis on the Spanish invasion of Portugal of 1924
By the Joint Committee of Strategic Analysis of the Army Staff of Iberia

Debriefing

Spanish forces crossed the Portuguese border without meeting opposition and occupied its first objectives. Portuguese forces were unprepared and disorganised and failed to establish defensive positions along the route or in any strongholds or defensive positions available to them which could have easily blocked Spanish advance.

The Spanish Army elements continued to carry out their plans without suffering more than light casualties when meeting with organised defence in few crossroads along the way. 1st Corps, attacking from the North directly towards Porto and Lisboa encountered the most resistance, whereas the 2nd and 3rd Corps, attacking from the East and South respectively, were only slowed down by occasional security posts improvised in roads devoid of any kind of traffic and located in topographical accidents, resulting in light losses for a few battalions.

Portuguese forces never put up a true resistance, leading to a total and complete collapse of the Portuguese government at the hands of Spanish forces.

Conclusions

Although unstopped, Spanish advance was slowed down by simple and basic defensive structures set up by Portuguese forces. As such, a confrontation against a more organised enemy would have easily led to a Great War-like stalemate, with trench warfare and heavy and sustained losses.

As well-planified as the invasion was, a minimal organisation of enemy forces would have led to a long war of attrition which, in the present case, would have been avoided with an amphibious assault on Lisboa.

In order to enhance the military performance of the joint Iberian army, this committee establishes that it is necessary to develop the army towards acquiring greater mobility and higher speed, in order to avoid the possibility of entrenched stalemates. It also suggests that this should be done through the adaptation and development of vehicles similar to those used to break entrenchments in the Great War, known as landships.

The Committee also encourages the further study and development of amphibious warfare as used in the Alhucemas landing.

Resulting from these recommendations, the Iberian Government has commissioned several projects to national enterprises.

Pleased with the much better performance of the prototype Trubia A4 respect to the Renault FT, the Government of Iberia commissions to the Hispano-Suiza car manufacturing company the development of a new engine to power a vehicle based off the Schneider CA1 to complement the Trubia tank as an armoured transport for troops. The development of the proper vehicle is commissioned to the Artillería Trubia arms manufacturing company. Its requirements are as follow:
-Capability to transport up to 25 men, plus crew
-Minimum speed of 10 mph
-Possibility to mount at least one machinegun or grenade launcher.
-Less than 20 tons

Artillería Trubia is commissioned to design an evolution of the Trubia based on the Vickers Mark E, the “Alcázar”. Requirements for the Alcázar are as follow:
-Minimum speed of 20 mph
-Firepower able to destroy small concrete buildings or fortifications
-Less than 10 tons

The Artillería Trubia Company is to produce 500 units of the Trubia A4 in a state factory operated by the Hispano-Suiza company this year, 1,000 units of the Trubia A4 in the next year, and 2,000 in the following year.
By 1933, the Alcázar should enter the line of production and the Trubia A4 will be manufactured by the newly forms Sociedad Ibérica de Manufacturas Militares, which includes all public arms factories in Iberia as well as a few vehicle factories.

I am puzzled. You entered the war, and now that an ally of Italy declares war on you and you ragequit.........I dont see a lack of iq here, the nations that are at war with you have a considerable chance of winning, but you do to. Did Venezuela surrender when forced with the awesome might of the US and France, lolnope. I see no reason to ragequit. If you got into a war at least finish it.

I explained more in chat as to why I quit; I've actually been thinking about it for a while. This new turn seemed like a convenient place to get off.

Primarily I just don't have the time anymore, although admittedly the wtf direction this has taken recently hasn't helped.

Second Great War:

Continental Alliance:
  • Italy
  • UKGS
  • Croatia
  • Bosnia
  • Free Republic of Ireland
  • Free India
  • France

Allies:
  • UK
  • Hungary
  • Romania
  • New Zealand
  • Canada
  • Ethiopia

Note: USA and Germany may join the war.

ooc: And Iberia may not? You want to leave me out of the party? I'm this close to declare war just for that note. BECAUSE EVERYBODY MAY JOIN THE WAR.
Also, will somebody make a comparative AS and NS of both alliances? that would be nice.

The Iberian Government announces that the light tank Trubia A4 has just started to be mass-produced. It shows several improvements from the Renault FT-17 in which it is based, and so we recommend Renault TF-17 users to upgrade their armies through the purchase of several units. The Trubia features a turret split in two independently operated halves, each equipped with a machine gun with 360º of effective rotation. It also displays an air pump to refresh both the engine and the crew zone and several positions from which to fire small arms against enemies surrounding the vehicle while being safely inside it. It can develop speeds higher than 20 mph.

These characteristics are clearly superior to the Renault's single machine gun and reduces crew space and much lower speed.

Continental Alliance:

86 AS
37 NS

Allies:

54 AS
30 NS

Not really. Half the allies are landlocked/irrelevant from a naval viewpoint.

I foresee two phases. First one: the Continental take over the Balkans and Italy fends off the Allies with his navy, with France possibly trying an invasion of Great Britain, or also an attack on the British colonies. Or both. And Italy might annex Ethiopia here.

In the second phase, only the Commonwealth stands, and here is where the naval skirmishes of the first phase will take protagonism.

An eventual third phase can evolve towards:
a) Allied defeat at sea, destruction of the British Empire
b) Continental defeat at sea, phase four: Attack on Continental lands.

Yes, in the allies only the UK has a real navy (20 NS). Canada and New Zealand have only 5 NS each while the other allies are landlocked.
