Nine years ago, the Republic of Laos was placed under martial law following the start of the Vietnam Crisis. Today, April 4th, President Rattikone and several top military leaders have declared the present situation sufficient for the end of the period of martial law. Elections are to be scheduled on July 21st for the National Assembly.

Along with this, the government has seen it fit to announce plans for a referendum regarding Vietnam on July 2nd. All people currently living in Vietnam will be allowed to vote on whether to remain part of Laos, remain part of Laos with a regional government, or become independent. Lao authorities will be overseeing the referendum.

More than 620,000 soldiers have fortified in Thai beaches and have prepared trenches, artillery, mines and other defenses against the upcoming Franco-English fleet. The army is being personally supervised and commanded by Chancellor Yingjang Shinawatra, who has inspected the defenses and has commented that "This line will crush the armed forces of France.". Of course, in order to face the Thai army, the French forces will have to crush the "Yingjang Line", an other line of defense which shall ensure that the French and English naval forces shall be decimated and crippled beyond repair.

All the soldiers are ready to defend their nation and willing to die for it. The spirits are high and everyone believes that defeating France will be an easy task. The Thai artillery is one of the best in the world and will surely play a crucial role in pushing back the invaders, if they manage to cross the "Yingjang Line", something which the Chancellor deems impossible.

The Qualifications are over! Each region (Asia+Oceania, Americas, Africa, Europe) has brought 4* teams forward who shall represent their nations!
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE QUALIFICATIONS

• Germany-Russia as a game ended up tieing with a score of 6-6. Germany scored early, but became lazy in the second half.
• Sichuan-Oceania was a fantastic match, with the Oceanians crushed with 10-0.
• The UAR only scored one goal throughout the qualifications, leading to jokes that they needed UN approval for a game.

Emir Aladin I Farouk is not willing to sacrifice the sovereignty of the United Emirates just yet. However, he does recognize the benefits that closer ties with the African Federation would bring. As such, the Emir would like to know if the African Federation has any position which equates, roughly, to "associate non-member." The Emir would also like to propose a free trade agreement and African Mutual Defense Organization.

To that end, we advise against pursuing economic relations with the Pan-American Union at this time. The alliance is a shell of its former self, having abandoned the auspices of international co-operation in favour of a self-serving imperialism that has made it a pariah to all but the most unscrupulous nations. Moreover, the United Arab Republic is currently in a state of war with St. Louis, and trade in military technology could be seen as aiding and abetting the enemy.

The United Emirates is aware of the status of the PAU as a pariah state, but also points to their reputation as a global arms dealer. Without a more modern military, the United Emirates is extremely vulnerable to dangers much closer to home, such as the seeming jihad of the Russian Folly against monarchies and, essentially, all non-Russian nations. The UE would be happy to cancel orders for materials sent to the PAU if the United Arab Emirates can sell the UE equivalent military hardware, or show us a broker who could.
