Intervention in Vietnam: The Japanese Fleet in South China Sea
After learning of the atrocities and genocides of the Vietnamese Warlords and the pleas of the Vietnamese people for help, Japan has send a huge armada of battleships and carriers, along with two Army Groups (Army Group XII and XVII) of the Imperial Japanese Army, to restore peace and order in Central Vietnam.
The commander of the peacekeeping force is General Oyama Iwao. The Japanese air and naval forces have begun a huge bombardment of Central Vietnam. More than 1,000 tons of bombs and 200 cruise missiles have been fired at military and economic centers, airports, military bases and HQ, as as well as power stations and communication centers.
So far, central Vietnam has no electricity at all and all communications have been severed. This is part of Oyama's plan, whose strategy is to copy on a larger scale the bombardment of China and Taiwan. Oyama believes that by destroying the communications and the economy of the enemy, the enemy army will collapse without the need of a large scale land battle.
The Vietnamese warlords have been unable to defend themselves, as almost all airports and planes in central Vietnam have been destroyed, thus giving the Japanese air force almost total air superiority. The Japanese air force has tried to limit civilian casualties by using smart bombs when bombarding civilian centers, however casualties are inevitable and 3,000 Vietnamese civilians have been killed. The military casualties of the Vietnamese is 5,000 dead and 13,000 injured, while the Japanese have lost 30 pilots.
In a few days, the land invasion will begin. The land offensive will be spearheaded by the 7th, 9th and 17th Imperial Japanese Marine Corps (IJMC) and the 6th, 11th and 12th armored brigades, whose job will be to destroy any enemy resistance and capture strategic locations. Once this is done, the Army Groups XII and XVII will secure the cities and the countryside of central Vietnam.
The Imperial Mainland Japanese Army: New operations in China
The Army Groups VI, VIII and IX of the Imperial Japanese Army, which have been fighting in China and Taiwan, have been moved to a new command, that of the Imperial Mainland Japanese Army and have been renamed Army Groups I, II and III. The new Army shall be under the command of General Toyotomi Hideyioshi, who commanded the three Army Groups in the invasion of China and Taiwan.
The new Army shall begin new operations in Coastal China, with the goal of securing all the East China coastline and defeating the Chinese Warlord Sun Ce, who commands an army of 200,000 men, mostly untrained and badly equipped conscripted peasants, and is in control of much of Eastern China. A new offensive is about to begin, as a Japanese armada prepares to bombard Sun Ce's forces.
The offensive will be mainly an armored thrust spearheaded by 6 armored brigades. The offensive will be supported by the Imperial Japanese Navy and Air Force, who will bombard military HQ and economic and communication centers in all of East China. General Toyotomi says that
"Victory is the only outcome of this operation. Sun Ce's forces will not be able to resist our armed forces and soon peace will be restored to all of Eastern China. Soon, our operations shall expand in Central China."
