Piracy Defeated

After the rise of Piracy in the period of international collapse there had grown a large presence of pirates in the Caribbean raiding the trade routes of Texarkana and smaller traders in the Caribbean area. However now with the rise of Texarkana in the area piracy has been quashed. The old strongholds have been taken over and a provisional transnational government has taken over under the supervision of Texarkana.

Rome Boasts its Naval power

A contingent of Roman vessels made it all the way to Gibraltar before turning back when finding out that Texarkana had already dealt with the pirate threat.

Texarkana has made the Caribbean and Atlantic a tad safer. We would like to thank the Roman Empire for their overt support in all of this, and it truly is the thought that counts.

With that being said, the following punishments have been handed out.

Chief Admiral of Blackbeard's Avengers: Edgar Cross (FIRING SQUAD)
Chief Admiral of the Bloody Sea Cats: Yevette Smith (AMNESTY)
Serene Admiral of the Dolphins of St Jesus Malverde: Chus Zavala AKA "the Bloody Apostle" (AMNESTY)
Admiral Chairman of the Cuban Krakens: Jon Garza (FIRING SQUAD)
Sea Duchess of the Duchy of the Skeleton Rose: Daisy Morgan (FIRING SQUAD)
Admiral Archbishop of the Diocese of Francois l'Olonnais: Eve Allard (AMNESTY)
Big Boss of the Rocket Sharks: Craig Ray (FIRING SQUAD)
Lord Captain of the Bloodshot Gang: Dalton Thorn (FIRING SQUAD)
President of the Irish Serpents Society: Felmalda O'Peatain (FIRING SQUAD)
Grandmaster of the Order of Panama's Angels of Death: Isabel D'Cruz (MISSING)

King Elton himself has met his end in front of the firing squad.

The United Emirates of Casablanca and Gibraltar has created the International Fair Trade League which is a more global alternative to the MECTU as we are in a modern interconnected age.

We aim to serve as an open forum for international trade and issues caused by it. All are welcome to join.

We applaud the UECG's efforts to reduce trade barriers between nations. For our part, Texarkana will pledge that the Panama Canal is open to all non-military shipping. Arms shipping, however, will be subject to tolls in our part to reduce the availability of weapons globally.

Future of the Kingston Transitional Government

The Texarkana Mayornate will work to establishing a stable government in areas formerly occupied by warlords and pirates.

The Panama Canal Zone will be administered directly by Texarkana, which holds exclusive rights to establishing a military base at the Canal Zone for the purpose of policing, customs, and so forth.

Otherwise, the government will be transitioned smoothly into a mayornate based in Kingston. Defense and foreign policy of the new government will be deferred to Texarkana, whereas the normal governance of the country will be left to the first elected mayors of Texarkana. Only canidates who have swore an oath not to take up arms against Texarkana will be permitted to run for the first elections.

A quick reminder specifically for CELTICEMPIRE and Chester - please note that the stats only provide a ranking for nation comparison, not a chart for spending and suchlike.

I also want to remind that this is a future, not an alternate history or rather the POD is Christmas Day 2013 (The divergence of course being that this IOT was not hosted ;) )

Also please please do keep it civil - I do not want to have to bring in the mods but I will do if you press me.

i usually just treat it as if it was 2013, not 2104, cause, frankly, i have no idea what changed during those hundred years. i'd assume, but it'll make me sound like im power-gaming even if i justify it.

IOT XIV isn't hosted, causing several IOT players to develop political agendas in their free time over winter break. By 2025, many of the players are in positions of great influence in commerce, politics, and the military. True to IOT nature, they immediately turn on each other and plunge the world into nuclear-driven catastrophe.

Sounds aboot right.

The Prussian People's News

This Just In

Monarchists, long been hiding within the republic, have overthrown the republican leadership.

The people of the republic, realizing once again why they originally got rid of socialism and communism, have come to embrace the idea of a returned monarchy and a strong and glorious Prussian Kingdom.

The monarchists, seeking to restore the glory of the former kingdom have invaded the western states of former Germany breaking the peace that the former People's republic retained with the west.

While the cities of Hamburg and Bremen have held out against the onslaught, Dazing was also invaded and taken from the dis unified Poland.

As the monarchists have broken peace with our neighbors, they have made many changes to the nation. From now on the full name of Prussia shall be The Kingdom of Prussia, our flag shall be the old flag flown during the original kingdom of Prussia, as seen below, the motto and anthem shall stay the same, the anthem because they believe it represent's the new Prussia better than the old "song of Prussia" and that it sounds better.

This will also be the last printing of The Prussian People's News, Long live the King!

War in China: Peacekeeping mission by Japan

China is divided between hundreds of Warlords who claim the title of the Emperor and China has become a huge battlefield. Tens of thousands die in battles between the Warlords, free trade is disrupted and the people are oppressed. So, Japan has send three army groups (Army Group VI, VIII, IX) of the Imperial Japanese Army to restore order, peace and free trade in China.

Japanese soldiers have landed in the ports of Central China and in Taiwan and have faced little resistance from the peasant armies of the Warlords. The Japanese Air Force has bombarded several military bases and economic and communication centers in Taiwan, where more than 900 tons of bombs have been fired.

Toyotomi Hideyioshi, commander of the Japanese Air Force, has said in an interview " the bombardment of Taiwan has shown the efficiency of the Japanese Air Force and how successful our doctrine of using the air force to destroy the economic and military power of the enemy is. Our doctrine is to destroy the power of the enemy forces, his communications, military HQ and economic centers using our air force, so when our land forces land, they will face little to no resistance, thus limiting by a lot the casualties."

However, in some parts of Taiwan, fierce battle takes place. In a location known just as the Crane village, more than 300 Chinese soldiers and irregulars have fortified and face in house to house urban combat 5,000 Japanese soldiers. The casualties are huge, as more than 32 Japanese soldiers have died and 120 have been injured. The commander of the forces is reluctant to use artillery or call the air force, in fear of civilian casualties, as many villagers have not left their homes.

Fokuyama Hiranato, a 25 years old Japanese soldier fighting in the Crane village, says "the resistance of the enemy is fierce and many of my comrades have been seriously injured, but we shall win. We have already secured the western part of the village. Soon, we shall trap the rest of the enemy and force them to surrender."

In other news,

United Arab Republic condemns Japanese aggression

Diya Amirmuaz, co-leader of the United Arab Republic, has issued a statement condemning Japan's recent incursion into China. He has denounced the peacekeeping mission as an "utter sham" and has challenged Japan's pretext for intervention as a "complete fabrication":

"We have received no information that China is as lawless as Tokyo purports. ... The so-called peacekeeping mission has thus far resembled a military invasion rather than a humanitarian initiative. Japanese forces are prioritizing military targets and territorial acquisition over defence of population centres ... The [Japanese] have indicated absolutely no interest in safeguarding civilian lives."

When asked whether the Republic was planning a counter-mission, Amirmuaz responded that "armed intervention is not a serious consideration at this time" but stated that Jerusalem "will pursue all other means at our disposal to end the bloodshed."
