The economy of the UTC is based around the exporting of goods such as lumber, fish, and many other wildlife and crops that grow in a taiga. In the past, UTC prospered on the trading of furs, but as time has passed and technology has advanced, the trapping of furs has diminished as an industry. Gold was another industry in which Cascadia thrived on, and is still strong to this day. Hydroelectric power is how the majority of Cascadia is powered, with dams dotting the Northwest forests.

President Henry Martin Fillmore - Democratic Party (2039-present)​

Henry Martin Fillmore was born on June 7th 1996 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, then part of the United States of America. His family were poor - his father drifted from job to job, and his older brother Josiah had several altercations with the police. In November 2016, in an attempt to escape his family's poverty, Henry enlisted in the United States Army. He served with distinction in the US Army for eight years as a member of the 1st Cavalry Regiment, serving with distinction in a variety of American military adventures throughout the late tens and early twenties. He retired with the rank of First Sergeant, and went to college on the GI Bill.

Fillmore emerged from college at a tumultuous time for America and the world. The many crises of the thirties were disastrous for most, but were a massive opportunity for those with the drive to make names for themselves. Fillmore, now living in Trenton, was elected a state congressman in 2032 - in the coming years, Fillmore was instrumen[SCENE MISSING - TO BE ADVISED]

In the first Colombian election of 2038, Fillmore and his running mate Harris Darnley won handily, taking every state of the republic except Maine. His first term was largely focused on infrastructural and economic redevelopment that harked back to the ideas of the New Deal in the 1930s. During a speech in New York City in 2041, he coined the idea of an 'American Renaissance' - a revival of all that was good about America. Unfortunately, Vice President Darnley disagreed with many of Fillmore's ideas and declined to run on the 2042 ticket, defecting to the Rockefeller Party. His replacement on the ticket was Chelsea Portman of New York - she and Fillmore won all states except Maine and Connecticut.

In the coming years, President Fillmore intends to define Colombia's role on both the American and the World Stage...

When Ukraine collapsed and the Crimean conflict escalated in the late 2020s, UN peacekeepers were sent in to stabilise the region and reach a more permanent solution. As a result of several peace talks and conferences the Odessa Oblast was assigned to Bulgaria to administer as the UN mandate of Bessarabia for an initial period of 15 years. A referendum was held in 2039 where 52% of Bessarabians voted to remain under Bulgarian administration when the UN mandate ends in 2044.

Bulgaria is a multi-party parliamentary democracy currently lead by the social-democratic United Socialist Party who form a minority government since ousting the conservative Democratic Alliance from power in the 2041 parliamentary elections. The conservatives still hold on to the presidency however but polling suggests this might change after the 2043 presidential elections with the USP candidate Stanislav Draganov holding a slight lead.
