That really all depends on who's interpreting. I mean, who in America presently has ever heard of or even cares about the Hittites and the Mughal Empire? But the Babylonians, wow!

It depends on what happen it over the next 100 or so years... you can never tell. Had the US collapsed in 91 instead of the USSR, then its place in infamy would be guaranteed. It will never be forgotten, but how its remembered will depend whos writing the history books by then.
i dont know if you could say no country has dominated the world like america does, the british empire probably had as much strength compared to other powers at the time, and a lot of the world still speaks our language because of the influence we had, in a way america seems very much the real succesor state to the british empire even if the usa wasnt part of the 2nd empire, much of what america does in the world today is a role that used to be carried out by the british empire
Not really. The French, Germans, Russians etc were pretty important political, cultural and military rivals. And American influence is much more wide-reaching than British during its height.

It doesn't at all depend on what happens in the next few years. In a thousand years all that stuff is just history. Most "great civilizations" have been much worse than the US.

Yoda, it has only dominated the worlds since 1991. Rome, Persia, Mongolia etc dominated the world (ther part of it it was possible for them to) for far, far longer than that. If the EU or China overtakes the US soon, it will be remembered as a nation that had a brief but impressive spell at the top.

How many years did Alexander the Greats empire exist?
Besides "dominating the world" is a very vague criteria. No state has ever before dominated, the world, so I doubt that's what you need to be remembered as one of the greatest civilizations.
I voted "yes" simply because America will be remembered for it's part in WWI & WWII, where they didn't win the war, but their late entry was the deciding factor. They will also be elevated due to their Cold War "peaceful" victory.
In other ways, their new ways of thinking, being equal rights, freedom of religion, etc will be remembered for bettering peoples lives. Throw in scientific research, like military wonders, walking on the moon, and various medical advances -- or add the culture that can be found even in rival third world countries?
