Bees too? I think we should move under the sea.

One thing is for certain: there is no stopping them; the ants will soon be here. And I for one welcome our new insect overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted TV personality I could be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves.

You know the Red ants and the Black ants would sooner or later begin
infighting and destroy each other ;) :mischief: . I witnessed their first
big battle on tv cartoons :p .

there would be no way we would win against bees and nts. (i think we would win against ants alone, and still lose to bees alone) yeah, we might be able to retreat tosubs, and such, but we wouldn't win.

We have the Orkin Man.

Humans 1, Ants 0

Actually that's probably more like Humans 439,058,712 Ants 0 (although if they manage to get the Orkin Man and increase their score to 1 I wouldn't be too sad).

But now that I think about it, the Orkin Man doesn't kick as much ass as he used to. Now he's just a guy with a hard hat.

Still, times are relatively peaceful. I'm sure he could still break it out if he needed to.

Anarchywrkbest,

I love that music, who is the band ?

Humans marginally, because ants definitely have the adavantage in masses and structure, but the human size and technology could destroy them.

Yeah, of course, excavations big enough to make a whole city collapse would go totally unnoticed.
Milliards of ants moving toward human settlements would go totally unnoticed.
Maintenance crews would absolutely never see the millions of ants crawling into the systems.

Yes exactly, quote from the australian invasion link,

- A huge ant colony measuring 100 kilometres (62 miles) across has been found under the southern Australian city of Melbourne, scientists said.

And if i can make an allience with a flying species, i will choose wasp insteed of bee.

Just a few wasp per human, wasp can sting many time without dying, bee sting one time and died.

The muatgenic speed of adaptation of ants and their awsome speed of reproduction already won the war against human IMO. But if you combine a wasp swarm with ants, it will be to easy and unfair, poor human.

They are both hymenoptera, quote,

Stinging insects are limited to the order Hymenoptera, which includes wasps, bees, and ants. The stinger is a modified egg-laying apparatus; so, only females can sting.

quote,

In fact, an otherwise healthy adult would have to be stung over 1,000 times to be in risk of death.

So ,if both ants and wasp are same family, then it is possible that the ants share their genetics knowledge about chemical warfare with wasp. So a geneticaly modified wasp can have a much more powerfull venom, lets say just 10 time more ( it can easily be 1000 time better, like snake venom). So only 100 sting per human is sufficent to killed them all. With a real poison, only 1 sting could be enough. 10 ferocious wasp can inflict 100 sting. Usualy human panic after only 1.

(it's been a while that the ants involved in this warfare aren't the ants that we know nowadays...)

I agree, quote from the thread starter,

if all the ants of the world turned hostile .

And i will add, have a thinking species/member to lead them. But just on pure hostility, they could harm us pretty bad, like worldwide famine.

Humanity would never win, I doubt with current technology we could eradicate even non-superintelligent ants. Ants are everywhere can eat anything, and it's very hard to kill them all.

Humans would almost be eradicated out of the face the earth alone with a 95% extinction of other species.

WHY ?

Both ants and bees play a pivitoal role in our eco-system. ANY drastic changes will have UNFORSEEABLE effects to the entire food chain.

Ants - without them it would expodentially mean that its natural prey of inscets and lower food chain species would breed out of control. Insects would literally reach plague proportions.

Bees - without them many of our fruits and primary agriculture would fail to produce. They are a huge link in the polunation of plants and plants ablility to reproduce.

If mankind wish to irradicate either species it wouldnt be too hard. After all in Australia we have experimented with gentic and specie specific viruses. I can forsee that genetically engineering or modiflying a virus to wipe out ants is workable.

Ants can never be defeated- there's just too many. You can kill them by the billion, but some will always survive. If we even left 0.1% of them alive, they would quickly breed back to their original proportions, and we would be left with a world with air unbreathable with pesticides, and the ants would remain.
