In the Shadow of Rome

Until the actual situation in Spain can be ascertained, we suggest diplomatic contact with the Spanish be suspended, and officially announce this step as regards our foreign ministry.

OOC: Honestly, what is going on? Many of these stories are doing this that are supposed to be left up to the mod. To keep things moderately sane, I've been viewing everything that includes polling stats and "the will of the people", among other things, as propaganda that may or may not have basis in fact. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the will of the people, what areas remain loyal to an old government, and whether a coup is successful are all up to the mod's discretion, are they not?

Well I think whether or not the coup should be succesful should be up to the mod.

Now with the polls they may be a bit skewed ;)

To Russia and Ireland
From the USER

We recognise the People's Republic of France as the true goivernment of France not the rebellions in Brest and Paris. While we will not become invoilved in the French War fully, we do remind you that the People's Republic of France is a member of the International Committern and thus any attack upon it is to be construded as an attack on the whole Committern.

To Greece
From the USER

We accept your apology and stand down. We ask that in future instead of making baseless accusations or insults against the Soviet government that you try dialogue and diplomacy first. We will not be so lenient the second time around.

From Greece
To USER

We are not going to be mothered by the USER about what Greece can and cannot do. We only issued an apology in the sake of peace. Remember that.

Update will come after i've had a bath and relax a little bit. (on semi-vacation)

Also, this week, we uncovered a plot by a gang called the Greater Socialist Fascism Party that was going to bomb our military bases and help communists take over Paris
why would fascists help communists? if you notice there is a Fascist and Communist France

Update is imminent.

Ok, it seems i have some major amounts of PM diplomacy to go through. Those responsible, be aware you have delayed the update by hmmmmm, let's say a dayish. I'd say about Friday 1 AM or so when i'm done playing civ3 multi.

Here is a summary.

USER and the Greeks made up dispite disputes over the civil war in France. USER threatened embargo and war if Greece did not withdraw its accusations that the USER funded the communist fraction.

USER declare support for the communist fraction and invited them into their alliance.

Russia and allies declares support for the democracy.

England withdrew from the Atlantic Alliance and from the USCA war.

Edit:

Atlantic Alliance collapses
USCA makes a treaty with the former Atlantic Alliance asking for assistance in rebuilding their economy
Oh and the Anti-Commitern alliance is formed which was started by an NPC so i am assuming you know all the current members. If not I am one of the them :).

There is probably a little more. I will look from farther in the past. If still open after the update I think I will take Germany.

If you take Germany, I will need to talk to you.

I need that diplo answered before I can send orders in EQ.

I spent the night with my fiancee rather than updating. Not sorry at all.

Update will be later today, i swear this on all that is unholy.

starting uipdate for real this time

WORLD EVENTS

NEW FRANCE PROCLAIMED. Paris, France. A coalition of Republican and Fascist leaders have established a new France, with the Emperor Napoleon VI as its leader. This new monarchy has promised to reunite France and end the communist threat. Even as English and USER forces loom over the fall of Free France, the new monarchy stands firm. Monarchists in Belguim have supported this new regime, as the new emperor is the brother of the exiting Belgain monarch.

SCOTTISH-AMERICAN AIR TESTS CONTINUE. Chicago, United States of America. Scotland and the USA’s aeroplane experiments have yielded more fruit with the development of the new Warhawk fighter. This wooden-structured plane with improved piston engines are a leap from biplanes and seem to promise a new style of air war. The Scots and Americans remain at the forefront of this new field of science, even as the Italians, Austrians, and Mexicans all begin their own programs of aeroplane development. The Axis Alliance has also entered into the air development fad, as the Danes and Swedes lead the way into research.

END OF THE CENTRAL AMERICAN WAR. Vienna, Austria. The nations of England, the Netherlands, Haiti, and the United States of Central America have all signed the Treaty of Vienna, ending the conflict in Central America. Forces of France and Brazil have also withdrawn from the USCA, though they have not signed the treaty. The islands of the Galapagos and Peurto Rico have both been returned to the Central Americans. This concludes the bloodiest chapter in Central American history since the Mexican Civil War of 1862 – 1866.

NEW ALLIANCE FORMED AMID CRISIS. St. Petersburg, Russia. The Axis Alliance of Freedom has been formed, consisting of a multitude of nations, including Russia, Free France, Turkey, Greece, Persia, Sweden-Norway, Denmark, Haiti, and the United States of Central America. Mostly this in response to the growing strength of the Commitern, which absorbed a large part of the now defunct Atlantic Alliance, admitting Ireland, England, and Communist France into the alliance. Though crisis was averted over a blockade of Greece by USER ships, war threatens a clash of the Axis and Commitern as English and USER troops attack Free French forces and the Russians attack Plymouth sub pens.

GREEK ELECTION RESULTS. Athens, Greece. In a surprise result, the Greek Conservative Party achieved victory in this month’s elections. Though a narrow victory without a majority, the conservatives played on Socialist domestic failures and promised to take a tougher stance against the growing unrest caused communists in the factories.

New Seats held by Greek Political Parties

Greek Conservative Party: 140
Greek Socialist Party: 85
Greek Liberal Party: 45
Greek Nationalist Party: 25
Greek Communist Party: 5

NAVAL BATTLE OFF BRAZIL’S COAST. Peruvian Coast, Brazil. Several small warships returning from the war in the United States of Central America were sunk by unidentified submarines. One of the submarines is believed to have been sunk, but the nationality of the sailors is unable to be determined.

Casualties

Brazil: -3 Destroyers
Unknown: -1 Submarine

USER ANNEXES FRENCH AFRICA. Roma, USER. Roma has announced the annexation of the remaining French colonial possessions, left abandoned by the Parisian government. Though no violence has been reported, protests have been formed in St. Petersburg and other Axis capitals. Even the CSA and Canada have spoken out against what is viewed as unlawful action by the USER.

GERMANY DEVELOPS NEW TANK. Berlin, Germany. The Germans have announced the development of the Panzer II, a new medium tank that is believed to be superior even to the impressive Russian T-21, and is widely said to be superior to the Confederate Lee tank as well. The new tank fixes several armor problems with the Lee and the engine unreliability with the T-21.

RUSSIA DISBANDS CAVALRY. St. Petersburg, Russia. The Russian Army has announced the conversion of Russia’s seven cavalry divisions into regular infantry forces.

FRENCH COMMUNISTS DEVELOP GAS MASKS. Marseilles, France. French communist researchers have provided the Commitern with defense against the gas developed by the English during the war with the USCA.

CONFEDERATE ELECTION RESULT. Richmond, Confederate States of America. President Long has been defeated in his campaign for reelection, and the Socialist Party has lost its Congressional majority for the first time since 1906. President Forrest has promised a rise in Confederate power and a new era for the CSA. (+3% dissent)

ENGLISH ELECTION RESULT. London, England. Neville Chamberlain and the Socialist Workers Party have managed to gain a majority and England has a Socialist Party for the first time in its history. However its aggressive actions against France, failure to create a honourable treaty in the USCA, and general controversial standpoint have disillusioned many in the English Empire, causing exacerbation of nationalist ideals and growing unrest. This isn’t helped by widespread belief that the Socialists rigged the election with USER help. (+30% Dissent)

PHILIPPENES GRANTED INDEPENDENCE. Manila, Philippines. The Filipinos have been granted freedom from Spain as of May 2, 1936. All of the islands have been unified, and the new nation has been construction of a modern military force.

CHAOS IN SPAIN. Madrid, Spain. Due to constantly changing politics and leaders, the economy of Spain has been thrown into utter confusion. No one is quite sure who is leading the nation and the economy has collapsed as a result. (+10% Dissent, unable to spend any IC for the next update, -1 IC per turn as well)

RUSSIAN COMPANY BEGINS TRADING WITH FREE FRANCE. St. Petersburg, Russia. Nero Inc, a major Russian trading company, has begun the sale of T-21 tanks to Free French business interests at cheap prices. How this may effect the war there is yet unknown as the tanks have not yet seen action.

FRENCH CIVIL WAR

COMMUNISTS GAIN BRIDGEHEAD ACROSS LOIRE. Communist French forces have forced a landing across the Loire River near Nantes against heavy Free French resistance. The attack was expected, and only by superior numbers were the Communists able to force a crossing. More information is unavailable at this time.

Casualties

Communist French: 18,000 Infantry
Free French: 7,000 Infantry

ENGLAND INVADES FRANCE. Cherbourg, France. English forces have invaded France, catching local Free French Army forces by surprise. Though the army was taken by surprise, the navy quick steamed to attack the very small British naval taskforce sent to support the landings. With the support of several Russian ships which were refueling in Brest, the French navy attacked and annihilated the surprised British task force in Cherbourg harbor. Several transports were sunk as well and nearly thirty thousand English soldiers are believed to have been drowned in the Channel. In addition, brutal English tactics against French civilians have angered not only France, but English citizens as well. Popular opinion in England is that it is a poor excuse for a war against England’s ally in the fight against Central America. (unrest included in the +30% Dissent above)

Casualties

English: 6 Battleships, 14 Destroyers, 20 Submarines
Free French: 1 Battleship, 2 Battlecruisers, 2 Light Cruisers, 4 Destroyers
Russian: 1 Battlecruiser

TEXAN-CONFEDERATE WAR

SEIGE OF DALLAS CONTINUES. Dallas, Texas. Texan forces continue to remain penned in Dallas as Confederate artillery shells the city. Casualties grow every day as the Texas Army continues attempts to break out and disease rages rampant among the civilian and military populations of the city.

Casualties

Texan: 21,000 Infantry, 11,000 Cavalry
Confederate: 14,000 Infantry

CONFEDERATES CONTINUE WESTWARD ADVANCE. Corpus Christi, Texas. Both Corpus Christi and Lubbock have fallen to the Confederate onslaught as Patton’s armies continue their advance to the Rio Grande. With Texan armies on the run, the final tanks in the Texan possession have been destroyed in a pitched battle east of Lubbock. Despite the successes, strong Texan trench defenses have caused a temporary halt of the Confederate army just short of the Rio Grande. The Confederate Cavalry Corps has been devastated as a result of Texan delaying actions and the new Texan lines.

Casualties

Texan: 7,000 Infantry, 20,000 Cavalrymen, 20 Light Tanks
Confederate: 32,000 Cavalrymen, 5 Lees

Great Update, but did my investment and economic programs work?
IC:
The USCA officially and vehementally denounces the illegal actions of the USER in Africa. Maybe the Negreos there will seek freedom and contribute to the word. The Negroes in the USCA play their role and enjoy many freedoms. In living up to that, the USCA opens its borders to the African's who seek refuge from the Imperialist(OOC: Buzzword)USER, before the USER begins USEING them as slaves once more.

To: Cuba
From: USCA

With your motherland in crisis and literrally almost all contact to them cut off, we extend our hand and offer you freedom, safety, and statehood in our Glorious and Free Union of Americanos.

Nice update.

From: Brazil
To: Unkown Aggressors

This coward attack will have consequences! We will find out who did this, and we will punish him!

To: Philippines

We would be happy to accept you into the Alliance.

To: The World

The Brazilian Empire is interested in the Wonders of Heavier then Air Flight. We ask all those who already know of this technology, to offer a reasonable price.

The Coup D'Eaet is over!

A new leader, Websterling Regald, an American buisnessman, has successfully talked and dealed his way into Presidency! He managed to get Congress, the Council, and the Cabinet to rally the military under his banner. However, this didn't go without oppression, as Socialist groups suicide bombed Madrid. 500 citizens were killed, and 700 wounded. However, the government is on shaky terms, how long will democracy/constitutional monarchy last?

Very Nice Update!

I will take Germany unless anyone wants it. I was having fun with the Greeks too :). But the Axis needs a human player and I will assume control.

From Germany
To Axis Alliance of Freedom

We will join the alliance as the instability on our borders is most worrying.

From Germany
To England

Withdraw from France or we will force you to leave.

From Germany
To USER

To advert war we advise you to tell your communist allies in France to halt all attacks on the north. If the communist refuse to leave then Germany will take proper action to ensure they leave.

OCC: I just took over so I hope this diplomacy is not unrealistic.
