While your efforts are appreciated, they sadly betray a certain... misunderstandment of the French situation. There is but one France; alas, control over it is contested by communist insurgents. Recent events have proved that the majority of the French population is not at all supportive of the rebels, so they cannot reasonably claim to have legitimate authority over any parts of France.

A partition of France, as we had already made clear, is as out of question as the partition of any other modern nation-state (such as Germany); it is thus not negotiatable. Nevertheless, we are perfectly willing to grant amnesty to the communists if they surrender now; we shall greatly appreciate it if you were to intermediate between the government and the insurgents. Even if you do not accept that honour, know that we still consider Germany a sister nation, and express hope that our good relations continue unperturbed.

A partition, while it may not be ideal, may be the best thing for civilians later in the war should it take long to win. While you do not need to consider peace now, later, after many deaths and the like, you must begin to think of peace should the insurgency continue. Our best wishes against England, who unrightfully invaded you.

We are both on the same side of the issue. Some people lack honour, invading a nation unjustly, and aside from that, DURING A CIVIL WAR! Without so much as a declaration of war! We need no thanks in condemning such an act.

How would you like it if during a civil war, in your own lands, a former ally invaded you? I believe that what you did is the Lowest of Low, and hereby place a trade embargo on you, and call on ALL nations to do the same.

Sometimes nations do something that is inexcusable. This is one of these times. I call on all of you to reprimand England, as is your responsibility in not only keeping peace in the world, but insuring equality. Attacking someone so tied up in their own conflicts? How is that equality in people.

One suggestion that we have regarding the French territories is if you believe that they are rightly French, give them to Communist France, with whom you are allied.

June 6, 1936. The day of the embargo. The King was furious. France had been invaded. April allies, May enemies. No declaration of war to be found. During a confusing time at the start of a new nation during a civil war. How could France be in a worse position? The only thing to do would be state our opinion to England in a way that may affect them - an Embargo.

Johan Gimpel was a sailor. He was crew on the merchant boat "Der König", or 'The King". He worked long hours, when at sea. On shore, he didn't work. He just drank, smoked, gambled, sometimes, when he had month long leaves, or was sailing out that way, would even travel to Amsterdam for some REAL fun. It had been a month. He had had May off, because he had gotten sick. He was better for the last part, but the ship was away, so he got extended leave. Today he would return to sea. He was very excited, as they would be sailing for England, Scotland, Belguim, and best of all, The Netherlands!

He got to the Adriatic port city of Trieste. He went to Der König, and got on and ready to set sail. A man in a government uniform was standing there, checking the itinerary of EVERY boat that wanted to leave. He came around to Der König. He looked at the itinerary, and said "I'm sorry, but you can't leave."

Johan was outraged and upset. All he could think of was that he wouldn't get to go to sea, AND he would have to skip Amsterdam! "Why? There's nothing wrong with our destinations! We aren't at war!"

"We have placed an embargo on England."

"Since when?"

"This morning."

"I haven't heard of it."

"That's why I'm here."

"Why can't we go to sea? We will skip England!"

"How do we know that?"

"I'm trustworthy. We'll land in Scotland, Belguim and The Netherlands, but not England!"

"According to my orders, you can't be trusted. Nobody can. Nothing personal. Anyone with 'England' on their itinerary is considered a 'liability to Austria-Hungary-Yugoslavia and the embargo.'"

"Everything personal! I've missed the sea for a month, and I want to get out and put out in Amsterdam, if you know what I mean!"

"Excuse me? I have nothing against you. I have something against England."

"You lie!"

"How dare you accuse a man trying to do his work of lying!"

"How dare you accuse a man trying to do his work of being a 'liability to Austria-Hungary-Yugoslavia and the embargo'!"

"Guards, arrest this man!"

They came up and arrested Johan. He was never seen again.
