WORLD EVENTS
MAN FLIES AT LOCH NESS. Loch Ness, Scotland. An American named Charles Lindburgh has flown man's first heavier than air flight. The aeroplane, developed by the Scots and the United States has changed the world by Lindburgh's low-level flight across a small lake in Scotland. Both nations have gained the few working prototypes of the aeroplane for their militaries.
FRENCH CIVIL WAR ERUPTS. Paris, France. France has divided into three factions as the conditions of French society have grown too intolerable to last. It began with the assassination of the official leader of the French Communist Party. This was followed by three assassination attempts on the President of France. The first two were unsuccessful, conducted by French communists and fascists respectively. The third, who ran up to the President and shot him point-blank, was captured and interrogated by the French Fascists and was revealed to be working for the United States of Central America. In response Fascist French generals used the army on the German border to sieze Paris and much of north and western France. In southern France, however, the French soldiers fought a brief civil war, and the communists turned up ahead with the arrival of supporting troops from Morrocco, and the use of over a division of Light Tanks brought out of hiding by communist forces. The communists are based out of Marseilles and have gained control of Corsica and most of southern France. The French forces in Central America returned after hearing of the onset of war, and after establishing Republican control over Guyana and the west African minor colonies, returned and now prop up the former democratic government out of a base in Brest with support of the naval expedition which had been sent to the Carribbean. Meanwhile, Morroco asked for and recieved annexation by the EASR, and has joined the EASR as a member Socialist Republic. The two divisions in Morrocco have moved north and joined the communist forces in southern France. Much further south, the French governor of Madagascar has used the military there to sieze control of the island and to proclaim the Kingdom of Madagascar.
REFORM IN AUSTRIA. Vienna, Austria-Hungary-Yugoslavia. The Monarchy has proclaimed that a minor member of Yugoslavian aristocracy may now participate in the dual monarchy, now a triple monarchy. On the whole this move has been met with scorn by the nationalist movements in the nation. The Poles and Bulgarians have protested viciously, and Warsaw erupted in violence as the police attacked demonstrators. (+5% Dissent)
DEPRESSION IN THE CARIBBEAN. Mexico City, Mexico. Mexico is one of several nations which have been economically damaged by the war in the USCA. Refugees and the loss of trade by the European blockade have resulted in severe economic damage not only to the USCA but to other members of the Trade Union as well. The nations which have been damaged are Mexico, Texas, Haiti, Colombia, Venezuela, Spain, and of course the USCA. This disaster has completely collapsed the Texan and Haitian economies, which relied almost entirely on the free Carib trade routes for their economic growth. (-1 IC per turn for Mexico, Texas, Haiti, Venezuela, Spain; -2 IC for USCA)
RUSSIA DEVELOPS NEW TANK. Moscow, Russia. Following the Free American Alliance's development of the Lee tank, tank theorists and technicians in Russia have developed the T-21, a new tanks which is the equivelent of the Lee in battle, and is believed to possibly be better, as Russian observers in Texas noted several flaws in the Lee's design to researchers back in the Motherland.
JAPAN FIELDS SUPER-BATTLESHIP. Tokyo, Japan. Japanese shipyards have announced the deployment of the new Samurai-class battleship, which is far more powerful than any ship ever fielded, and boasts stronger armor and heavier guns than any other ship in the world.
-CENTRAL AMERICAN WAR-
USCA RETAKES SAN SALVADOR. San Salvador, USCA. New tanks, freshly built and moving directly from the factories into combat, supported by eleven infantry divisions have retaken the capital after the departure of the French forces due to the fighting in France proper. In addition this assualt resulted in the relief of the Gautemala pocket. This victory was tarnished however as the English and Belgians managed to use the terrain for their advantage and launched a massive assualt towards Guatemala using dispersed infantry tactics and poison gas attacks. Casualties have been high on both sides as the English push toward the Pacific coast.
Casualties
USCA: 34,000, 160 Light Tanks
Belgians: 4,000 Infantry
English: 12,000 Infantry, 110 Light Tanks
BELGUIM JOINS THE WAR. English-Occupied USCA. Belgian forces have arrived to assist the English section of the front against the Central Americans. England has confirmed Belguim's entrance into the Atlantic Alliance, and merely awaits the approval of other members.
CENTRAL AMERICAN MARINES SUNK. USCA coastline. The Central American Marine division was caught by English battleships, attempting to outflank the Dutch lines while disguised as Dutch supply vessels. Having failed the proper signals, Dutch marines on one of the ships opened fire on a passing English destroyer, sinking the ship. However, the English battleships quickly responded against the defenseless transports, and the entire Marine division of the USCA has been sent to the bottom of the ocean.
Casualties
USCA: 10,000 Marines
England: 2 Destroyers
BRAZIL DEFEATS TEXAN-HAITIAN FLEET. The Brazillian navy, supported by two newly constructed battleships, trapped and engaged the surface fleets of Texas and Haiti. After brief conflict with casualties on both sides, the surface ships of the Americans were sent to the bottom, though submarines involved mostly managed to escape once more. The defeat of the Trade Union's ships has resulted in Brazil's blockade of the Haitian coastline, shelling numerous harbors and causing severe economic damage to the island.
Casualties
Texas: 5 Destroyers, 1 Submarine
Haiti: 1 Light Cruiser, 15 Destroyers, 2 Submarines
Brazil: 2 Light Cruisers
BATTLE OF SAN JOSE CONTINUES. San Jose, USCA. Brazillian forces continue to slug through the sewers, subways, and buildings of the city as Central American forces continue to resist despite the landing of Brazillian divisions to their rear along the Atlantic Coast. The terrain surronding the city prevents easy encirclement, and the generals of both sides are well aware that the capture of the city would mean the end of supplies or assistance from the south, and the end of trade with Colombia. The results of fighting in urban terrain have been especially apparent in the growing casualties of the forces of Brazil, in comparison to significantly reduced casualties on behalf of the USCA army. The amount of deaths in this theater are the heaviest out of all the fronts in the entire war.
Casualties
USCA: 22,000 Infantry, 5,000 Cavalrymen
Brazil: 51,000 Infantry, 1,000 Marines
DUTCH LAND AT HONDURAS. Honduras, Dutch-occupied USCA. Dutch forces, moving by sea have taken the city of Honduras against minimal resistance. USCA forces have moved towards the new front in preparation for further fighting.
DUTCH ATTACK NORTHWARD HALTED. Managua, Dutch-occupied USCA. Dutch forces struck against a steel wall north of Managua, attempting to breakthrough to meet the new landing in the north. The attack was brutally repulsed by the defending Central Americans, though it is believed that the USCA forces in the region were close to collapse as the fight ended.
Casualties
Dutch: 33,000 Infantry
USCA: 16,000 Infantry
-TEXAN-CONFEDERATE WAR-
CONFEDERATES RAID CORPUS CHRISTI. Corpus Christi, Texas. A Confederate Battlecruiser raid resulted in the destruction of the majority of the Texan submarine fleet, the final sub being sunk with the rest of the Texan fleet by Brazillian forces. Texas is now without a navy.
Casualties
Texan: -9 Submarines
CONFEDERATE ADVANCE CONTINUES. Oklahoma City has fallen to advancing Confederate forces. In addition, the Texan capital of Dallas is surronded (see below). The cities of Corpus Christi and Lubbock are currently under threat of collapsing against the hammer blows of the Confederacy's invasionary armies. Casualties have been extremely heavy among the Texan tank corps as Confederate Lees breakthrough the Texan lines like hot knives through butter.
