My avy is of the greek figure Atlas, I thought it might be more fitting than my previous ones.

Nice one.

My current one explorers the idea that our identities in here in the net (including CFC) exists in some sort of "cosmopolis" where are our personalities are much as of manifestations of certain basic attributes in digital reality as avatars themselves and everything else in the net.

Still looking something that would fit me personally the best.

not in my opinion. Its even better because it dosent have a blue background.

IMHO blue on a blue background is harder to tell.

Depends on what skin you use. But I like it better that way

Depends on what skin! There are different colors for different skins.

You are better off doing a .Gif and setting NO background (transparent)

usually its a light gray.

I'm trying to modify my picture. Yikes, it's tough. I was trying to get the water in the tank to be a little more blue, to show that it's water; but it seems to ruin the bubbles when I do.

I have these two options, though - the second doesn't give the impression of 'interface' that I want, though.

Yes it is a compliment, but you will only understand the extent to which it is if you forget Mr. McFerrin and understand the phrase.
