INES I: Anno Domini

OOC: Imago, do I have cooler ships now, ones better at longer trips? And did you see my diplo to Bengal edit above?

Although I, and the country, am saddened by the death of my father, we must look forward to a new age. I am proud to take this office that my father and grandfather have held before me. Throughout their reigns, Gaul has been transformed. Where before was only a loose alliance of tribes, now a great nation stands. The wealth of the south flows through Gaul and people grow rich. Our armies have expanded our influence far from our homeland. Gaul grows powerful.

However, it is not of Gaul that I would speak. Gaul is but a part, and a small part at that, of the great Celtic people that spreads across the continent. And the Celtic people have been wracked by strife. While the peoples of the south have unified into the great nations of Rome, Byzantium and Aegypt, we Celts have fought amongst ourselves and remained weak. Even my family has been guilty of this. We sought only to secure Gaul, and then to expand its power. We thought of Gaul as distinct, separate from the tribes around us, when in reality they are our brothers. As such, any war between Celts is a truly civil war. When we came to the eastern tribes, we came as conquerors, seeking to subjugate them before Gaul. We should have come as friends, seeking to unite with them and help them. We did not, and so war between brothers continued.

All that changes now. No longer shall we engage in wars of aggression against our people. No longer shall we subjugate our brothers. We have differences with the surrounding peoples, yes, but these are mere family squabbles. If we Celts do not throw aside these petty differences and unite, we will be swept into history, destroyed by those peoples who had more foresight. But if we do unite, we will take our rightful place among the greatest empires of the world. Today is the dawning of a new age. Gaul was only the largest of the petty Celtic kingdoms and now it is dead. In its place shall rise the Celtic Empire, to unite our people and carry them to greatness.

OOC: Very nice update

IC:
From: Celtic Empire
To: All Celts, everywhere

We no longer seek to conquer you. Will you now join with us as equals, to take the Celtic people to greatness?

To Bengal
From India

In this war you will lose, your families will lose, and your people will lose. We will unite all India in the end and there is still time for Bengal to be a part of that unification rather than a casualty. India wil accept your request for peace and annexation. Do so and you will live and your families will live. You have the power to bring peace to your despoiled land.

From: Bengal

We will accept being a tributary state to you, at current borders, but let us have what we have left.

To Cyrene
From Aegypt

We hope that we have shown some measure of honour by not simply attacking you immediatly, we wish to Ally, in full, your position is strategically important, and we must ensure its protection.

To: Aegypt
From: Cyrene

We will accept this, but only because we feel our nation will be destroyed, if we do not.

To keep what independence you have there is a price:
Army maximum at 5,000
Your navy forfeit to India
You will pay 1 EP per turn tribute

Greater India will protect you from enemies and contribute to your progress as a modern nation. Bengal will join us as a member of the Council of India.

To Chu
From Greater India

We wish peace with you and trade and are open to any specific agreements you think important. There are rumors of a great war in your land. We wish you success in that undertaking.

We have no choice. Deal.

OOC: Imago, do I have cooler ships now, ones better at longer trips?

Yep. You can actually get to Zanzibar, now, and trips to China, while not exactly easy, are much easier for your ships then they are for Chu's.

@Perfectionist- Some Celts will probably join you, and others still won't. The situation is very confusing.

Persia is waiting for diplomacy

Persia has recived diplomacy. Check the last page.

If you will not join us, will you at least agree to non aggression pacts and treaties of mutual defense and cooperation?

Imago what is the small nation that is in three parts (blue) that is spread across arabia, africa and the island off arabia?

We offer both your respective honored nations a NAP of 100 years.

Wise choice.

To Satavahana
From Greater India

What say you? Will it be peace or war? Will you join our Empire and reap the benefits of peace and prosperity? Or will you cry out in pointless outrage and demand satisfaction on the field of battle? Or do you need some time to think about it? The price for thinking is:

Reduce your army to 3000 men
Forfeit your navy to India
Pay us 1 EP tribute per turn

The tribes aren't really organized enough to make such deals.

Imago what is the small nation that is in three parts (blue) that is spread across arabia, africa and the island off arabia?

The Union of Aden. Its one of the Israeli sucessor states. It's Hebrew, very merchantile, and has a defensive pact with Aegypt.

We accept you NAP.

To: Greater India
From: Satavahana

Never.

*And your spies tell you that if you declare war against Satavahana, Bengal will help them, and go back on their deal with you.*

Very Nice Update!

From Lusintania
To Rome

The payment for the city shall come

OCC: Imago my city in Morocco is not there? Could you place it there? Also, the situation in my nation I can see a civil war brewing... Would it be better if the capital was moved to the more populated Morocco or would that be worse?

@The Farow- Sorry about that; I forgot. I'll edit the map.

EDIT: Map edited.

And if you move the capital to Morroco, you'll offend the Lusitanians from the homeland.

never mind

No our borders are just as fine as they are. We futhermore will take any continued westward expansion towards Persia as an act of war and lay claim to all areas to the west of India.

Your arrogance does not befit your stature. We proposed a discussion of our borders and now you talk of war and claims on land you do not hold. We might also have made such rash pronouncments about the western lands. But we did not. In fact we offered to you all that land that and some we own for the tiny strip along the shore. And with peace as a bonus, an attractive offer, so we thought. Provoke us at your peril.

To India
From Persia

We see nothing provoking in what we said. You are being nothing but a paranoid person. Persia stands committed to peace, however we are unwilling to trade those lands. If you would like to sign a statment saying no more futher westward expansion we will sign an alliance with India. But the land that is Persian, remains Persian.

To Persia
From Greater India

Characterize this alliance and its benfits to India and we will think upon it.
